Playoff Path

Kirby ain’t destroying Alabama. Probably will be the usual 3 point Georgia loss. My take here is a sake of argument scenario with Alabama being snubbed after an additional game loss. It wouldn’t really be fair.

If you guys takes are correct, I’d lean to not playing next week if I’m the Tide.

Complicating this? If Duke wins the game, at 8-5 they wouldn’t be the slam dunk to make the playoff. Only the top 5 conference champs are guaranteed. The 5th one could be James Madison at 12-1 from the Sunbelt conference. Hey, maybe then they squeeze an ND or SEC team to fit an ACC at-large Miami so the conference gets repped in the playoff?

Probably not though. The ACC may have really screwed up by allowing Duke in this game Saturday.

We SHOULD be in over ND, really. But let’s face it…ND is THE brand. The CFP would rather haver the ND brand over the U brand. If the tables were turned and ND had beaten us…

And of course the almighty SEC just has to have at least 5 teams in each year!

I think we have a chance if UGA beats Bama and Duke beats UVA

People agree we should be in ahead of ND.

Conference games made sense last year when the winner got a bye week in the playoffs. That essentially made the CCGs the first round of the post season, where losing rightly kicks you out of the competition. It’s not like that this year, which makes the extra game a burden in more ways than one.

It’s safe to say that everything is a mess this year and things will change as needed in the future. But for now it’s a classic story: Miami is screwed.

Duke over Virginia would do nothing for Miami. Does no one understand the 12 team format for filling out the teams?

They WILL TAKE THE TOP FIVE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS. It’s just assumed that the ACC would have one under that umbrella. But not if you’re stupid enough to send a 7-5 team to your title game. If Duke wins, the committee can bypass them in favor of a higher rated team that wins either the sunbelt or mountain west. THAT DOESNT MEAN DITCH DUKE FOR MIAMI.

Guys, there’s just not a scenario where Miami gets in. 12 teams — 3 big ten, 5 sec, 1 big 12, notre dame, an aac champ then lastly either the acc, mwc or sun champ. That….is. …all.

PS Fuck the ACC… this dumpster fire of a conference

Alabama / Ole Miss. The rebels have one loss. They should be in over alabama. Bama has two losses. Alabama loses they are going to be out. Texas had a tougher schedule than alabama. Alabama beating lsu - seriously- lsu has five losses. They beat Tennessee who also has four losses. Bama has one quality win over georgia and one terrible loss against fsu

Yeah, I don’t think they will move ND down. The committee will talk about how close the teams are and blah blah blah but will say they gave the edge to ND. They won’t want to change their initial projection.

Even Finnebaum agrees!

Colin Cowherd too!

We’re cooked.

It would appear so.

Notice what they did though. They dropped Notre Dame ONE SPOT. That conveniently puts them on the bottom of the bracket. So if it stays that way, they’d get a shot at a wobbling A&M team who only won by a point earlier vs them. Then ND would get Indiana who they beat last year.

I knew there’s no way they would make Notre Dame face OU on the road, only to face rested Ohio State in round 2 if they survived it. They gave them the easier path. Notice it’s like last year’s bracket. Softer bottom with the good teams on the top.

Yeah, UGA is on the bottom too but last year Beck was out and this year that offense still struggles with Stockton at QB and a so-so OL. Hope TAMU or IU can get em.

And dropping ND closer to us doesn’t matter since we’re both done playing. I hate this committee.

They also strategically moved Alabama up a spot so that they can absorb a loss next week and not drop below us. They claim the gutsy win over a 5-7 Auburn team was worth more than ND’s blowout of a 4-8 Stanford team. They are just making up reasons on the fly.

As long as BYU loses, a Georgia win…Especially if by 10 or more could get us in.

It’s funny how you guys always find hope when there is none. Must be an age thing. I quit having hope after about age 45 or 50.

Miami is out, folks. Good Lord what does it take for you to see it? Leaving out Alabama for us? What u smoking? If they left them for Texas that’s one thing but it would never be for us. And I honestly don’t think Texas gets in either…..though they would over us.

Our next game is the Pop Tarts or Gator bowl. Which one you prefer? Maybe vs Vandy in either.
