Playoff Path

Miami deserves to be in.

gotta admit, i’m absolutely floored we won and won emphatically. i cant remember the last time we finished a season strong (20 years?).

If notre dame doesn’t blow out stanford worse than we did i think our resume wins out.

And yet the talk seems to say today that if upsets happen, it favors TEXAS and not Miami.

I tell you what, if we get OU or Alabama to lose to open up an at large spot and they take the 9-3 Horns, it sucks. They had wins over San Jose, UTEP, Sam Houston State, OT wins over Kentucky and Mississippi State as five of their nine wins. They lost to UF. And UGA beat them 35-10.

It says the ACC is nothing more than the Mountain West to this committee. You can lose one, but better not lose two games. They got no respect for it.

Auburn just tied it and SMU is losing. I don’t know how the ACC shakes out if SMU loses, but it’s something.

SMU just grabbed the lead with a TD.

Tide wins. Auburn exhibited some talent this year but couldn’t put it together for an entire game, sound familiar). Their defense was at times spectacular, but inconsistent. Auburn is just a few players away from being good.

Cal in the lead. Guys, aren’t we in the ACC Championship if SMU loses? Someone please set me straight.

Duke is in if SMU loses.

Good grief. It will be Duke If Duke should win against UVA, the ACC will become the laughing stock of college football.

Can someone explain why Duke is in over us? We’re both 6-2 in conference. Our overall is 10-2 and they’re sitting at 7-5.

What will be crazy if Manny Diaz wins the ACC title before CMC…

Well shit I’m going to riot if this SportsSource Analytics Score is a real thing. It sounds like some made up con job.

Conference record should be #1. Overall record should be #2. How is that not the case?

Mark my words Miami will get screwed and the ACC will change the system because they see the flaw.

Ironically, it was IsaiahHorton who scored THREE tds today for Alabama.

Auburn’s QB and receivers blundered away that game with needless penalties and butter-fingered drops. That being said ….they got hosed on some critical calls. For a team that has always been known to produce very good RB’s their running game did not show up until the fourth quarter. I DIDN’T expect a Ronnie Brown/Cadillac Williams type of rushing attack ….but I was looking for one that would have worn down Bama’s D.

Georgia beats Bama next week and the Tide are out and Miami is in. Bama is not getting in with three losses. Neither is Texas. The SEC can scream all they want. Miami needs Bama to lose to Georgia.

No way in hell!!!

1st of all, Kirby don’t beat Bama.

If it happened and the Tide get shafted, you’d be penalizing them for playing a 13th game. They have 4 ranked wins already and are 10-2. If left out after a loss, no one should ever play a title game again carrying such risk. I think Alabama is safe. We lose out.

We will see. If they lose, i see them being out. They have a terrible loss to fsu.

And wins over Georgia, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri, LSU and Auburn. They’re not casting them out with a 13th game, a loss vs. UGA, a team they beat before.

If it happened, no one who’s 10-2 should ever play a conference championship game ever again.

So I’m safe now if I don’t play another game and will make the playoff but if I try to vie for a conference title and lose, I no longer make that playoff? Why would I agree to do that?

What if they get destroyed by Georgia?

IMO, the game that decides whether Miami gets into the playoff is the rematch of Texas Tech versus BYU. A BYU win would knock Miami out of the field. I think an Alabama loss to Georgia would eliminate the Tide which would find itself in the same condition as Texas with three loses. So we need to root for Texas Tech and Georgia for us to get into the playoffs. It’s a sad thing that playing in a conference championship can result in disqualification. Moreover, the ACC Championship game is an abomination, and should Duke win against Virginia, fans deservedly should be screaming. I think we’re going to wind up in the outside looking in, that is, we’re screwed again.
