Have we completely moved away from mod oversight? Dude hijacks nearly every thread and makes incoherent arguments post after post after post.
There’s a difference between letting folks stick around that have an arguable point despite it being controversial and another to let someone stick around that argues illogical points ad nasuem.
6, he made a bet early this year saying that if Trump doesn’t become president by 12/31/21 that he would leave permanently. And if Trump did become president that I would leave.
Clearly Trump will not become president this year, as that is literally not how anything works.
Storm needs to be a man and honor the bet he begged us to enter into.
I thought the bet was that the former President would be declared the winner of the electoral college due to voter fraud or some BS like that back in January? A mute button would help, but now I just keep scrolling once I see ALL CAPS WRITING.
The bet was that Trump would be officially inaugurated by 12/31/21. Storm is already trying to welch on this bet.
Not a big surprise because he already welched on his bet last year. He bet Biden would never be inaugurated. He disappeared for almost a week but then came back and never admitted he was wrong.
As far as football moderation, I’m in complete agreement about banning troublemakers.
It’s fine to have opposing views. If your idea of debate is crashing every thread and calling everybody else idiots and lowering the quality of discussion, it’s better to get rid of the bad apple.
I say this NOT to urge us to ban Storm, but to urge Storm to stop acting live he’s holier than thou.
You can ignore a user if you choose. Click on their name then click on their name again in the pop-up and select Ignored. If you see something obviously political in the football forum, just flag it and it will be moved/edited/deleted.
I thought it was wrong to ban Storm from the other board, and I feel the same way about it on this board. Once you start banning people you set a precedent, and the criteria for banning posters may well expand… This board has an ignore button. If you don’t want to read Stormfront’s entries, put him on ignore. If you think he’s a crap poster, nothing prevents you from saying so.
Dallas has managed this board adroitly while putting in an extraordinary amount of work bringing it to life. His judgment on matters is superb. He defined the parameters of the Storm Shelter, and I have found that discourse in the Shelter ranges from being crass to being quite scholarly. Commentary is sometimes insipid. Other times hilarious. Sometimes, we write posts we regret. It’s not a place to hang out if the kitchen gets too hot. If you are an emotionally sensitive person, you can easily have your feelings dashed. The Storm Shelter has been the most successful forum on this site, and there’s no one whom I would consider banning even for a moment.
All of us are human. Some of us I suppose are on different levels of the evolutionary hierarchy. There will never be a message board nor should there be one where everybody agrees with one another. The Bill of Rights is the greatest political doctrine ever conceived by humanity.
Yes, and the precedent would be “don’t behave like an ass.”
It is not so much disagreement as it is style. Disagreement is fine. But, when one poster consistently turns threads into obnoxious, trolling shytshows, it sort of ruins the flow of the board for many.
And the Bill of Rights has nothing to do with a message board. Among other things, it has to do with government suppression of speech. Hardly applicable here.
I suppose if enough people complain, Dallas will finally pull the trigger. It’s his board so he can do whatever he thinks best.
Shadow once banned me from the old board for a week or so because I wrote Al Golden should be fired about six months before he was fired. I thought that was a bit much.
