“I said, ‘How smart is that?’” the former U.S. president continued. “And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy.”
I believe that was the plan. Trump attacked NATO for Putin. Now, without Trump, NATO stands united as ever.
Again, Trump is the biggest enemy to this country on the planet, currently. He praised and protected our enemies, attacked our allies, and tried to deconstruct faith in our institutions. He couldn’t have done more for Putin if he WAS Putin
Heard a great segment tonight that Putin was waiting for trumps 2nd term and full dismantling of NATO for the invasion.
Have to admit, I didn’t much like the biden plan of taking to the airways so early. I was wrong and think it has been genius. Thankfully he’s been able to reunite our allies lock step as well. Can you imagine this shitshow with trump walking away from NATO and congratulating Putin on walking over Ukraine in a day? The intelligence flowing into the media has been a classy move.
I don’t perceive Russia as an enemy. Russians and Americans have many affinities. All NATO will do is flap their gums. NATO shouldn’t exist at all. Europeans are not going to fight in Ukraine, and they will suffer from a dearth of energy more than Russia will due to sanctions. Russia is used to suffering, living on a shoe string, but it remains an economic powerhouse due to its raw materials. The U.S. should expand business interests in Russia. Trump is right about Putin being a genius. The U.S. needs to recognize that our chief antagonist is not Russia as dumb Democrats would have you believe, but China who is buying up farmland and entire industries in America.
Biden is a corrupt moron, the Big Guy, head of a crime family. Thankfully, the midterm elections will be augur in a huge shift to the right. The economy will dictate the election. When gasoline prices near five dollars a gallon, food prices rising extravantly, housing unaffordable, utilities constraining use of A/C in the summer, the voting public will angrily reject wokism and Democrat Party radical leftism. The end of woke is near.
It’s not baseless. It’s a legit comparison with appeasing aggressive states and letting them slowly but surely grow into a bigger problem. This is what the whole line of “those who don’t know history” is about.
It’s absolutely a fair comparison, as stated above. Putin views the collective leadership of the west as weak, and frankly I can’t say that he’s wrong.
No one wants to spark WW3, but it’s becoming clear to me that Putin won’t respond to anything that isn’t military.
Putin holds all the cards in this conflict. Neither the U.S. nor EU intends to go to war over Ukraine. Appeasement as you call it, 51, is rational behavior. Ukraine not Russia is the most corrupt nation in Europe. Russia could not have afforded a Ukrainian intervention without Biden’s stupidity. Russia’s economy is largely based upon petroleum, so Biden has made Russia flush with cash from energy sales allowing him to assert his will over Ukraine. Ukraine is just another Biden folly that would not have happened under Trump.
Again, you clearly haven’t understood history. Howd that work out for Europe 80 years ago? I asked you this before and I was not surprised that you didn’t answer.
I think Biden looks bad here - in fact all western leaders look weak in this scenario.
But it’s pure speculation to suggest this wouldn’t have happened under trump, considering Putin clearly had him in his back pocket his entire presidency.
One enormous example and a lot of smaller ones if, again, you were aware of history. This isn’t a dig - I’m just telling you none of this behavior is a new thing.
……no…….Trump did just fine on his own making sure Putin knew he wouldn’t go against him.
Trump is much smarter than Biden and excelled in the realm of foreign policy. While it is speculation that Ukraine would not have happened under Trump, it is not speculation that Biden made Russia greater by curtailing our domestic production and as such helped augment the price of oil.
The allegation that Putin had Trump in his pocket was part of the Russian collusion hoax that brainwashed liberals into believing such bilge. Trump was right however in believing the future of the West is better served by improving relations with Russia. China behaves far more adversarial than does Russia. Trump’s foreign policy acumen dwarfed Obama’s, and Biden has blundered in everything and should do his party and the country a favor and resign.
Tulsi Gabbard is actually right. Ukraine, Russia, and Byelorussia are culturally similar, and this NATO thing should be taken off the table. Russia could never do to Ukraine anything close to what the Nazis did. There is a huge difference between Russian, Ukrainian,Byelorussian speakers and Western Slavic language speakers. Little will change in either Donetsk or Luhansk resulting from Russian occupation. Putin’s idea of giving them autonomy is sheer genius. I do not think Russia will invade Western Ukraine or move into Kharkiv or regions where Ukrainian nationalism is more rife.
