As of February 2, 2022, the current 7-day moving average of daily new cases (378,015) decreased 37.6% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (605,735).
It’s been more than a week since then with a similar drop.
This time last year, we didn’t have most of the population vaccinated, and we were dealing with a deadlier variant.
Daily cases and even deaths, which are a lagging indicator, are dropping precipitiously. Based on last year’s data, we shouldn’t expect another spike until July, where the hope is things won’t be so bad. But who really knows for sure?
Omicron was half as deadly but 3x as infectious. It could be more deadly than Delta, but these numbers are all fuzzy and i don’t care to look into specifics.
This is why GSC and skeeter and people saying covid was already endemic were wrong.
Now, however, everything is sharply decreasing. Fauci is NOT saying covid is endemic yet (that is stage 3) but he’s saying the first stage with the most damage is coming to an end.
The levels you go to defend Fauci are astonishing. The guy has been wrong about just about everything relating to the virus. He’s withheld information and has misled the public.
Well, you’ve shown a history of being presented with lengthy proof that go against your opinion and simply dismissed them without a thought. In addition, you LITERALLY have Trump on record lying about the virus, misleading the public and admitting to it on tape…and yet…
Lol…No skeeter doesn’t give a fuck what you call it…We should have moved on long ago. And have not due to political convenience preying on delusional fear
No idea of your opinion of Fauci beyond this post. But, with regards to being presented with a myriad of material to disprove your opinion (i.e. Ukraine Biden corruption), you simply ignored it because it didn’t fit your narrative…kind of like how you’re ignoring Trump is on a recording doing exactly what you’re accusing Fauci of yet again, you just ignore it.
He was the first one who said covid would be here to stay. He has been right on a damn lot of counts, to the chagrin of many a conservative, I have to say.
Possibly at times. I suppose it depends what we’re talking about.
And you attack him every step of the way. Thanks for establishing that you have no moral high ground to stand on. Now let’s talk about the data?
I looked at the data. This phase is ending. There is a decline, but why end stuff now?
We’ve had ebbs and flows for the past year and a half. The numbers aren’t that different from a year ago.
Death rates are still higher than they were in other phases of the pandemic.
My point is that Biden’s approval ratings are worse than Trumps at this point in the presidency. He’s clearly doing an awful job and the Dems are seeing the increasing frustration with everything. They know they can’t keep these measures forever in an election year.
And who knows what we will see in terms of when spikes happen? It’s a virus and it’s unpredictable.
By the way, I called it that restrictions would be lifted by late February when the Dems realized they had to back off this thing. I’ll see if I can find the thread.
I think it is funny, that you think biden or admin or dems are just now pulling it back. Considering MONTHS ago, I mentioned this in a conversation you were involved with. It revolved around trump bashing biden for pulling back to quickly. It was based around the policies pubs wanted and biden gave them. Again, you are bashing him for what you want when you should be kissing his ass.
Dems/biden, whatever boogieman you guys want to attack this second, have been angling and pushing the country in this direction for quite some time. For better or for worse.
I do love it when you fabricate stories to fulfill your bias tho. Typical.
All I can say is, a year ago, we had just gotten the vaccines. Hell, I wasn’t even vaxxed yet. So there’s a huge difference between then and now in the sense that most of the country is now vaxxed and/or has some measure of natural immunity.
Second thing, which is related, is that omicron hit a TON more people. The curves are similar to last year but with a much higher peak. People who held out and didn’t get covid for 2 years are getting it left and right now. We’re at that point where almost everybody has been exposed to this. That makes it not novel anymore.
Now, if next year the case and death numbers go even higher, then perhaps Fauci is proven wrong. Do you really think that will happen next year? I think the odds are in his favor.
And if the case and death numbers ARE NOT higher next season, then the answer to your question, why back off now, is clear. It’s because Fauci is correct.
