The flu isn’t novel. It’s endemic. There is already a ton of resistance in the population. Don’t act like this is new information.

No- Fauci a couple weeks ago said there are 5 stages of a pandemic and were in stage one. This is my point.

Yup, and the CDC called this situation a couple of months into the pandemic. But we weren’t into endemic territory 6 months into this thing, as GSC says. Deaths alone testify to that.
There is no point without discussing what these “stages” are. Stages 4 and 5 are Elimination and Eradication, which are stages we will likely NEVER hit.
Stage 1 is the Pandemic, negatively impacting the world.
Stage 2 is Deceleration, where cases are going down. not even an idiot would claim we are here since cases with Omicron are currently rising.
Stage 3 is Control, when covid is endemic and we are controlling it like the flu. This is our target, and Fauci says it might happen in 2022, but might not if there is a crazy variant.
If you are a rational, reasonable person, Fauci’s statement makes sense.
If you are prone to fear-mongering and/or look to the conservative media machine for manufactured opinions, then Fauci is the devil who’s running Biden’s lockdown commission and wants to keep covid here forever.

Wow, yeah, I’d have never thought we’re having as many deaths today as last year at this time. Pretty close. We were about 29% higher last year, but still much closer than I’d have imagined.
