What do you think are our biggest needs in 2027?
Jan 27 Class is pretty much wrapped up, although with Lowe’s departure, I’d take a 3rd DE EVEN if we miss on Jacobs, not just Jacobs or bust.
Needs vary more, will change overnight more, and are more easily patched with the Portal and an expert roster manager like Cristobal is. So basically we are just stacking talent.
As far as moving forward at this moment, I’d rate the needs as
Definite Needs: S, QB, DE
Needs: LB, CB (Wyman is gone, and I’m assuming MINIMUM 1 to the NFL)
Stockpile:RB (this could bump up, I’m shocked all the RB stayed, and can’t fathom they all will this time around) TE, OL, WR
Can be picky: DT (But we won’t be too picky, it is clear the staff will throw big numbers at this position always and imo that is the way to do it. CMC seems to want a clear 10 DT on the roster minimum at all times)
Looking ahead to next year’s class, assuming no more commits or de-commits, with what we are bringing in, unless we add a big time 1st or 2nd year portal guy at these positions, I’d expect us to hit these hard:
DE, TE, RB (again if we don’t flip one)
But again, a lot will be determined by who leaves in Dec/January. And also a lot of our DB will try different positions and we have a few OL who are being tried both inside/out, although it’s obvious Sparks/Woodrow are interior guys, Cantwell ends up at tackle, likely Ervin too, etc.
