Top Uncommitted or High Priority Flip Targets regardless of position

Hurricanes Football Recruiting

Mostly talent, but also based on need…Then slightly rounded up for local pipelines. A level of long shots is included, but has to at least be some interest both ways… ? = not sure/feel strongly if can commit at moment.

This will get smaller as year progresses obviously

Probably not many updates next week or so as I’ll be traveling. All threads fairly updated

MJC, RB
Matthews, OT
^^^ Both committing soon, UM top 2 for both. If I had to I’d say 75 %Matthews, 60 % MJC

DB Hypolite rumored that he may commit soon as well, UM thought to be clear leader

Some of these names possibly re-classifying will have a big influence on this class
Ghiotto, Jacksonville DE
Sears, Miami Columbus DB
A.Johnson, Carol City ATH/DE

Should hear something in the next week or two on all of these.

Picking up steam, higher chance to be in this class (to varying degrees):
Valdade DB (recently transferred from Tenn to West Boca)
Moore WR, TX
Keys RB, MS
Gayles WR, IMG
Garrer DE, AL
N.Johnson CB, GA
Evans DL, AL
Folorunshu DT, IL

Slipping either on UM’s board (my take) or them leaning elsewhere:
SBK DT, Coral Gables
Sam-Epelle OL, GA
KJ Green DE, GA
Whitehead DE, VA
Kimble RB, NY

On the above lists, long shots or even super long shots hanging by a thread, at least in terms of kids we have high on our board
2,4,7,9, 14 (unless Matthews to TAMU), 33,43, 47 (Unless Matthew to TAMU)

Good stuff. Thanks. And safe travels.

I mentioned it elsewhere, it really seems different. Still have a strong sense of skepticism after years of disappointments. However, it seems we have a much better chance at so many highly regarded kids from so many different corners of the country. Previously it felt (to me at least) we were chasing pipe dreams everywhere. Many, many of which did not choose UM.

The jury will always be out but momentum really seems to have swung. Long may it last.

Johnson-Cook to Auburn.

And Gamble to ND

And now Matthews to TAMU may end up being real…

HS recruiting is not what it once was. Will be back later in week. And I trust CMC and his roster building acumen regardless of who we miss on.

Disappointing but we are still in it for a lot of high level players. I trust the staff with the resources we have.

7

Keys was #32 on this list at the time of his commit, right at the top of the 2nd group.

8

Guys I think have a 30% chance or higher in this class as of 5/7. Some are higher than others.

**- I would predict them to UM at the moment

OL Matthews
OL J.Williams**
DL Muhammed
DT Thompson
DL Ayangbile**
WR Moore
DB Valade
DB Hypolite**
LB/DE Dawson
S/LB Chandler
DL Evans
DB Johnson
TE Karhoff
CB Carey

Just missed cut:
DE Jacobs, DT Folurunshu, LB Henderson, DE Garrer, LB Glover, DB Valade, DE Wittinburg, LB Randle, RB Lacy, DE Finley

Anyone else I would say definitely less 20% to UM (This is jmo and gut feeling, not some mathetmatical formula lol) or just unknown at this moment.

I think we will end up with between 22 and 26 kids…26 is really pushing it. Some are saying it’s more like 21 to 23, but I think class ends up little bigger than that.

Ayangbile was #21 and solidly in top group at time of his commit.

I’m assuming Donte Wright wasn’t on the radar for you as a flip candidate. Big time get at cb. Wow.

11

Rivals just don’t like us. Even with Wright on board they still predict Oregon with a 68% chance to sign him. Miami, only about 30%.

12

I think Mario will pull a few more surprise rabbits out of the hat. Mario was the perfect fit to take over the reins of this program. How could these players’ parents not love Mario.

He was at #8- #10. I took him down 2-3 days because although he was interested the main connection was supposed to be that the Oregon CB coach Wadood was supposed to join the UM staff, when that fell through and UM promoted Jefferson from within I took Wright down.

Highlights have been up in the defense thread for months, I just added commentary today

Awesome flip. Supposedly the highest rated corner Miami has ever signed.

Took out a few names… About a half dozen others hanging by a string.

Miami, of course, promoted Terry Jefferson to its full-time cornerbacks coach this week. That was the last hump Miami had to get over in the Wright recruitment.

“My ideal situation was him getting promoted,” Wright said. “I wanted TJeff to have the job no matter what. I really like his coaching style. I feel like he believes in me.”

Shows you

A. How badly I (and many others) misread the situation lol
B. Maybe we have a future ace recruiter in new CB coach T.Jeff?

Made some deletions here.

As of right now 5/17

Players I would think have a 25% or more chance of signing with UM

1 DE Jacobs
6 CB Hall
11 OL Williams *
14 DE Garrer
15 WR Moore
17 DT Thompson*
18 LB Glover
19 CB Valade
21 LB Randle *
23. WR Britton
24 LB/DE Dawson *
29 S Hypolite*
37 DL Evans *
40 CB Johnson *
43 CB Carey *

  • = We are favorite or as good as chance as anyone

Players from TOP GROUP ONLY I believe we are definitely a longshot for, hanging onto their place on this list by a string…. Many of the bottom group are fighting for offers/next in line, so keeping this part about top group only

DT Brewster
OL Matthews
DB Sparrow
RB Johnson-Cook
DB Gamble
DL Muhammed
OL Adams

The others are slight longshot or I just don’t have a grasp, as noted some I know/or at least don’t believe have commitable offers.

17

Boom…Hall was #6 at time of flip to UM.

Maybe my favorite corner this year.

18

Dawson was #24 and comfortably in the top group at time of commit.

19

Ja’tori Williams was #7 at time of commit (never lower than 12 since this thread has been running)

A.Randle was #17. Consensus top 2 UM LB targets, and at the top for his type/style of LB (Tall, rangy, versatile that can move around)

20

DT Jenkins to UM

#8 at time of his commit…When the list was bigger he would have been somewhere in the late teens, no lower than low 20s. Comfortably in top group.

LB Glover to UM

#14 at the time of commit, always in top group

Really like both of these kids.
