Not a bad top 11 when Deroche is last.

I was going to say, “Wow, two guys below the Key West kid? I wouldn’t have thought”.

So how many of our 11 could pretty much play anywhere in the power 4? I always like to think about how who we’ve signed compare to the other major schools.

That’s why I have the line in there… Anyone below the line I consider (imo) to be depth pieces or maybe a notch down… There used to be a second line with takes kids I didn’t believe should be at UM, but I’ve only had a couple recruits below that, and I don’t believe any under CMC (I may be wrong) I remember Keyshawn Washington being and maybe couple others being in that 3rd category. There just isn’t anyone below the line yet.

I believe all these kids could play at most places in G4…Maybe Deroche is a question mark just because alot of his recruitment is based on upside and growth. He was the only one I considered putting below the line.

Johnson imo is very good… Miami full court pressed him very quickly after offering. His finalists were one of the top defensive programs in the nation who has had a defensive lineman taken in 8 straight drafts (Iowa), and UF, a SEC school who has a very good class right now (not sure if it will stick)

Mark Matthews is committing today at 5:30. A lot of predictions are for Texas A&M now. What do you all think?

Folaranshu to ND
Matthews to Tamu

For about 3-4 weeks it was kinda known Matthews to Tamu, even when he slowed things down, then when he moved the commit back up it was kind of a done deal.

Kid is weird.

Let’s hope this isn’t becoming a thing with a Texas school coming in and throwing bags at locals to land guys we thought we had.(Texas with Cooper and Johnson last year) Don’t like us missing out on this one.

What I read is that his “reveal” was kind of over the top drama, fooking with people. Have to suspect that if he was not super talented Cristobal would have long ago moved on (diva).

That announcement did give major diva vibes

Matthews is a big, long athletic tackle. He is very raw for a 5* prospect. His footwork is not great right now. He has the potential to be very good. He signed with an agent that has zero ties to Miami. They wanted me to get them into Miami. I hope he does well because I never want to see a kid fail but he is either a 1st round pick one day or he transfers multiple times and never does much.

Who? And what do you mean by get them into?

Weird is a good way to describe Matthews. I’m not so sure that he’d be a good fit at Miami; I arrived at this assessment by impressions of several knowledgeable pundits noting his peculiar behaviour during interviews. At any rate, I worry not about our offensive line considering the excellence of our OL coaches who have shown time and again a penchant for developing talent. Flipping Donte Wright from Georgia was a recruiting masterstroke. The kid is not only fast, playing against top tier competition. He’s highly articulate, smart, and coaches love his attitude and work ethic. Wright IMO may well turn out like Keionte. He’s equipped to play any of the backfield positions. I hope Mario can reel in LB AJ Randle, not losing him to Clemson. Randall has the speed to cover sideline to sideline. Florida is also after Randle. Presently, he is playing at safety, but at 6-3, 210 lbs, he should move up a LB position. Very athletic, a hurdler in track, he’s very athletic and even played at the Qb position. Miami could use his speed at LB.

BTW 80, that wasn’t meant as a flame or attack. Curios as what you meant?

His agent wanted to get into the South Florida scene?? Am I reading that correctly?

Boom…Your man commits bikki!

Hetherman will turn Randle into a terror on defense. Now let’s get Henderson. All of sudden, the LB room, one of my worries, has improved demonstrably. We’ve signed three exceptional players in Randle, Busch, and Campbell. I really like this kid Karsten Busch, the highest rated prep player in the state of Kentucky. Already a beast doing Reuben Bain category leg presses. That is 600 lbs on the bar. Busch can do it twice.

Kids I think are a little overrated based on rankings:

Wright- Clear top 100 kid, wouldn’t even argue with top 50… And a clear top 7-8 CB, just a little lofty where he’s ranked at now. Obviously he’s talented and looks really smooth out there

Deroche- Nothing wrong with him, just pretty clear that he’s gonna be a TE and has weight to add. This is a nitpick more than anything.

Kids that I think are underrated:

J.Jones
D. Jenkins
Gourdine
J.Johnson
Dawson

Love the class so far.

Where some other recent commits elsewhere would rank on the current commit list (6/3 currently 17 commits) for reference.

MJC 3, Gamble 3, Folu 1, J.Upshaw, 7, T.Moore 7, Matthews 1, Karhoff 14, Olu 8, Whiteside 16, Dollar 2, Valade 11, Osborne 2

Where would Bryant fit lol. Long way to go but these guys go after it

Herald says a bunch of commits coming this weekend. One recruit. Would be nice if the commits truly bond and out of that recruit more effectively as potential teammates.

I have to say that sometimes I think about the $$$ being thrown around and wonder how this changes team camaraderie. Particularly for high school recruits who just see the dollar signs and can be envious. Loose lips sink ships.
