Trump did not do himself any favors tonight. Harris looked and sounded very sharp. She was well prepared, I’ll give her that.
Trump did say something that made me laugh my ass off. His comment about Biden waking up at four in the afternoon was a classic line. He got his ass kicked tonight.

Kamela won the debate. She never made a fatal error, repressed laughing, and was well prepared. The moderation was mildly unfair. The moderators had no business adducing any arguments all in favor of Harris.
I wish Trump would have consulted with Tim Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy before debating. They’re commentary was excellent afterwards.
Like the election of 2016, the biggest issue is the border followed by inflation.
While our good friend bikki228 is well-practiced at repeating false narratives even he doesn’t believe, I will give him credit for honest assessments of speeches and debates. In the aftermath of something so sobering, it’s nice to see something genuine out of his mouth that isn’t about crab fishing or cigars.

I have an extremely wide range of interests that preempt my writing dull posts. When I write of crabbing thoughts of Mitchener’s Chesapeake dance through my mind. As to cigars, my thoughts are of Churchill. All of you should read Churchill if you are interested in erudition. He was a splendid writer and artist as well. A cigar over 7 inches in length is now universally called a Churchill. Middle sized cigars are called toros, and the small ones are robustos. Maybe in an upcoming missive, I shall relate the proper way to light a cigar; it makes a huge difference.

Why would Trump, in all of his fucking arrogance, all of a sudden find the need to do this? He thinks he’s above this. You are debating a complete idiot in Harris, and you go out of your way to basically not prepare for it. (I watched about 7 minutes… but consensus seems to be he lost although the moderators were a joke, and she was by no means great, he was just an emotional asshole)
He’s an asshole, nut it’s a shame we have to vote for an asshole because he’s not them.
The debate was for pure entertainment purposes. I sat back and watched the debate with my son who was asked to find 20 facts from the debate from his teacher. I don’t take this crap serious because it is supposed to be made for TV. I thought Biden lost the last debate and knew right after that Storm was right…He was not going to be president much longer. Trump has his chances to go after Harris but she baited him and he fell for each trap.
I have said a million times if Trump could just not go off the rails the guy would be much better. The problem is the guy cant help himself. He is the guy who super talented in a sport but won’t take to coaching. He is uncoachable. He does not listen to anyone that is around him. He won in 2016 and thinks…OH, I AM THE GREATEST. You have to adapt. There is a saying in polictics…You must pivot. Trump has never pivoted from 2016.
Bikki brings up immigration and it is a strength for Trump. The problem is Ann Coulter who was the first to support him will tell you HE DID NOTHING DURING HIS PRESIDENCY about immigration. The guy is a big con. He knows the talking points…IMMIGRATION, GUNS, THEY ARE TAKING AWAY YOUR RIGHTS…The color people are taking over. Fear works…but not this year. People are tired of trump. I felt after Biden debated him Trump was actually going to win. Now, I really question if the guy makes it to the finish line. He knows that Harris can beat him. He can’t say in this election it was rigged. He cried wolf too many times and the reality is no one will listen this time.
The republicans created frankenstein. If Trump loses and now I feel there is a very good chance it happens. What happens to the republican party. MAGA is Trump and Trump is MAGA. None of these other clows have his charisma. Haley killed her political career by backing him. She had a chance. JD Vance will become a footnote in history. He is a terrible choice. I do think the republicans with some sense will take their party back and the MAGA group will eventually be gone. The right needs a bench because Josh Shapiro is next in line. Wes Moore is also up in that top group. Who is that GUY or Gal on the right?

Kamala just had to be better than Joe Biden and it would be considered a win. The bar was set low for Kamala and high for Trump coming out of the Biden debate. We’ve all seen Trump debate many times. He tends to ramble.
Kamala is running against her record and trying to create sound bites. No specifics on whether Americans are better today than four years ago. She’s trying to run an Obama like hope and change vague vibes campaign.
Also, hard to “win” a debate when it’s ABC and Harris against Trump. They fact check Trump 7 times, and don’t fact check any of Harris’ lies real time (she had several). They interrupt Trump to correct him on sarcasm.
He probably needs a second debate on FOX where the moderators don’t interrupt him. Same rules and everything.

It is not about confidence. I just feel and this is my opinion that people get tired of his behavior. The sad thing is elections become a popularity contest. If substance and policy won elections you would see different people winning these nominations. Trump in 2016 was new. He was the guy who was different. Now he just seems like some rambling, out of touch politician who seems to be pissed off. I also think this country likes new. They like the idea that Kamala is a women and would be the first. It would have been Hillary but she was so disliked.

It is a popularity contest. Agree with you there.
She may win. The woman thing seems to be overplayed though. It didn’t help her when she was a candidate in a crowded field. She was incredibly unpopular and didn’t make it to Iowa in the primaries before dropping out.
Maybe that has changed. I’m not sure it has that much. There are a lot of people that will vote for her as a vote against Trump. So, maybe she can win as just an anti-Trump candidate.
That will be the reason that she wins the election, should she win it. It won’t be so much as people believing in her or her policies as it will be voters simply voting against Trump. The same reason he lost the 2020 election. For the umpteenth time, the election was not stolen as some do vehemently believe. Trump didn’t even win the popular vote when he was elected the first time and the popular vote margin was even wider in 2020.

Not disagreeing with you on the popular vote but I hear this argument a lot. We don’t elect presidents by popular vote, so it’s largely irrelevant. If we did, campaign strategies and ways to approach getting elected would be totally different.
