Our Law Enforcement can do better

Many here have this idea of me that I’m 1,000% anti liberal and I’m always on the “right” side”

We’ll think again.

One of my passionate pastimes is holding police/law enforcement accountable. I respect Law enforcement. They have dangerous jobs and are sometimes put in positions where they have to make quick decisions. I get that.

However if I am 1000% about anything, it’s about the proper rule of law. Too many police officers and law enforcement don’t know the law and or don’t respect our rights as citizens. See the example below:

These are ice agents who made a traffic stop and believe they have the right to pull a suspected illegal alien out of a car. They do not. The passenger in the vehicle is under no obligation to answer or comply with any unlawful orders; even if he is indeed an illegal alien. The cops here have the burden of proof to first prove that he is an illegal citizen and merely his inability to speak English does not meet the burden.

The police here only have authority over the driver of the vehicle, who appears to have complied with the officers request for identification, and no one else unless they suspect a crime has been committed.

Many of you know how passionate I am about the illegal immigration issue. And even I can recognize that the officers here did the wrong thing and should be punished for it.

I implore all of you to begin watching these “law enforcement audit” activist videos. I don’t usually like their politics but I 100% agree that police should be constantly monitored and held to account.

If you guys like these, I’m going to post more videos like this one. It’ll blow your mind how many police out there either don’t know the law or believe that you don’t know your rights.

This has nothing to do with right or left and that is why you fail at life.

You’re entitled to your opinion. I disagree.

One side gives cops too much deference on average and the other doesn’t give them enough.

Interesting. You defended the cops endlessly when Floyd died.

I never “defended” the cops actions. I merely made a legal observation that the charge of murder didn’t meet the facts and burden of proof. There’s a difference.

You defended them.

Pls be specific in your opaque claim.

Conservatives tend to side with cops on the majority of matters and will say things like “if you have nothing to hide do what they say.”

They always give LE the benefit of the doubt.

Liberals always assume cops are racist and have ulterior motives. They want to defund them and attack them any time they can.

I’m in the middle. I would say I am much more distrustful of cops than I am a proponent of law enforcement.

I think conservatives are being hypocrites when they demand minimizing government but don’t realize police power is the biggest reason why it should be limited.

Except if you’re a capital police officer, right?

These are gross generalizations and are simply not true. You are one of the most dishonest people I’ve ever encountered.

I would lose my mind on my kids if they didn’t comply with the law.

Cops are mostly definitely NOT racist. but they are in a position where unconscious biases are easily exposed due to, in my opinion, the need for quick decision making. Again, you are talking out of your ass.

I think it would come down to whether the order was lawful or not, no? Watch.

If a cop came up to your child who was sitting on a park bench doing nothing wrong and asked for his ID, he explained there was a call stating a man was looking inside of cars, would you demand your child to comply?

If your child was operating a motor vehicle and was pulled over and the cop explained that he failed to use his turn signal so he asked for I’d and insurance, etc…. Should he comply?

1 scenario is lawful, the other is unlawful. He should comply with 1, and the other he should assert his rights respectfully.

Hey @skeeter isn’t is amazing how he’s softened his position on this now?

By the way- your basically saying they are racist but it’s out of their control due to being in situations that require quick decision making. So they are fast racists under pressure?

Even I don’t go that far. I don’t think it’s race or bias. I just think that cops have historically operated on a manner that gave them the greatest means of safety and success and they have trained everyone behind them that way. Now with cameras and social media we see that those practices are highly flawed.

I watch hundreds of videos a month of cops making decisions to violate rights even when the decision doesn’t have to be made quickly.

It comes down to the fact that they are rarely held to account and when they are, it’s their own department doing it and they are shown leniency.

I see a lot of talk, with no defense of your original assertion.

I’m not going to play change the conversation 50 times in your attempt to run away from the topic at hand.

Yup…Sure did.

Pure comedy.

He’s a fucking twat.

You defended them.

Then you got the “board moderator” continuing to attack people with absolutely no basis. Co-biggest twat on the board.

And I give a fuck why?

I don’t care if you continue to run and hide on every subject you discuss.

You are so far down the rabbit hole of negative credibility youll never come up for air.

Imagine thinking someone who posts daily and responds directly is “running and hiding.”

What a goofball this guy is.

It is when your responses are meant to deflect from direct questions.

You do it better than most.

51- in over 10 years on this board I have rarely seen you make a cogent, coherent point. You have a lot of nerve talking about deflection when you never answer anyone’s question to satisfaction for over a decade.

This is patently false and you know it. I routinely answer questions when challenged on a point.

The fact you don’t like most of them because they don’t pair with your worldview does not equal not answering a question.

I know that’s hard for you to understand.

You, meanwhile, will answer questions. But even when your position is provably false, you either double down, change the subject, or disappear. You’ve done it more than once in the last week.

One of the worst qualities one can have is refusing, at all costs, to admit they were wrong on something.

You display this quality more than most of this board.

Not all conservatives. There is hefty faction these days that want to shoot them.

False. Liberals do not assume all cops are racists. I buy my cops breakfast about 3 times a week going through Chik Fil A (Yes, I eat breakfast there 3 times a week and my wife wants to punch me). They seem to always hit it at the same time. I roll in jujitsu with cops, nightly There ARE a lot of racist cops, but there are a lot of racist people. I think power corrupts and police with their qualified immunity are in a position with too little oversight and considering how little it pays, draws in too many shitheads who got picked on too much in high school. But, I don’t think they are all nefarious.
As for de-funding them, that specifically relates to the excessive $ they get to handle things that are out of their qualifications, like mental health calls. More of that $ should be directed to qualified individuals who are better trained to deal with them, as many don’t even involve a crime until the cop can’t deal with them and shoots them. As it stands, they get so much extra $ in some cases, they’re driving around in $80,000 vehicles and dressed in GI Joe cosplay.

Curious statement considering conservative use the power of government to attack private citizens and business so often
