The Washington State and Kansas State QB’s, Ward and Howard, are both visiting Coral Gables this week. Hopefully, Mario lands one of them.

Can’t really blame Young…we still don’t have a qb and he needed to make a decision before we got one. Something needs to be done about the awful timing of these portal decisions.
Someone brought up the timing of the portal decisions and the point was made that they have to do it at this time of the year so the kids can enroll in their new school and begin classes in January. But, I agree, it really stinks. Personally, I think two open portal windows is too much, leave the one in the spring but close the one here in December.
B.Smith gone
I’ve posted a few diff times on this board or the other that there was no way both he and Restrepo would be on the team next year.
I guess there was some nonsense and he didn’t leave on good terms, but I like B.Smith and would have loved to see him stay. For his career he just couldn’t risk sitting behind X his senior year.

Cloyd seemed okay but not a huge loss. No clue with the freshman DL, guess he wants immediate playing time? Or coaches don’t like him? Or some school offered him half a ham sandwich?
Yup I’d say one of these…Pure speculation on my part, with his background being hoop and just by some of his interviews and things like that, maybe a little too soft or lackadaisical for CMC and Coach Joe liking. Also, maybe lost some of that athleticism as he put on the weight for DT.

Davonte Brown to portal. Seems like he qualifies as a disappointment. Not sure what expectations were for him but didn’t seem to make much of an impact. Think his brother got more burn.

I expect during spring ball there will be approximately 5-6 kids on this team that will be told they are basically playing for 3 spots and the others CMC has arranged a landing spot for them. Washington, Balom, C.Smith, Redding, to varying levels of probability.
Now if we lose kids involuntarily (that we want to stay then that 2nd number will grow)

McLaughlin is a horrible center. All year long, he was whistled for illegal procedure handling the football. He was one of the chief reasons Alabama lost to Michigan. The Tide was driving on Michigan running off a string of chunk rushing plays when McLaughlin hiked the ball where Milroe couldn’t field it. On the next play, he did it again which killed what looked like a drive that would put some points on the board. After the drive, Saban talked briefly with McLaughlin.
This was an unusual year for Alabama. They had a QB room filled with prized recruits who turned out to be overrated. (Sound familiar?) After experimenting, Saban concluded Milroe was the best among them. Credit Michigan for exploiting Milroe’s weaknesses; I believe Milroe only passed for 116 yards in the game. He was sacked five times in the first half and hurried eight times. Michigan’s pass rush confused the Tide’s offensive line by its variety of blitzing patterns. Though the Tide offensive line was the weightiest bunch in collegiate football this year, they never lived up to their pre-season hype. This was especially true of Kadyn Procter, who was supposedly the best offensive tackle in last year’s recruiting class. Proctor turned out to be quite ordinary in my opinion and was flagged numerous times this year for holding.
The moral of this post is that Alabama which has a team comprised of a dozen five star players, more than any other collegiate team, could not overcome not having a good quarterback. So, my friends, this is what we at UM have to look forward to next year unless we get our quarterback.
I think the NCAA will have to look long and hard at this portal nonsense and make some changes. Horrible timing during bowl season. I think there should only be one portal open and that’s in the spring when rosters shake out. Having two open portal sessions is too much for wishy washy teens with no loyalty anymore.

Don’t know much about him…Pretty neutral. In all fairness…His team wasn’t even ranked in the top 40 of FCS and made the final 4 with monster numbers by him.
