Miami vs. North Carolina Game Thread

Again he has the check down in the flat and doesn’t even look!

Van Dyke was lucky not to have an interception in that last drive. He threw several passes to receivers who were not open hoping they’d fight for the ball. Brashard Smith made some nice plays. We have a surplus of TEs whom we do not use. I hate when Van Dyke takes deep drops. There should be more quick passes. Have we given up throwing slants. I thought that was basic football.

Madstork predicted it would be a blow out. I didn’t believe him. I was an idiot to think Miami might win this game. Should have listened to Stork.

Def need a portal QB this year. Emory too green and TVD is maxed out even if he wanted to stay. Need portal for the DL and DBs as well.

5th loss in a row to these bastages… fargin’ iceholes

Nice try for onside kick.

While we’re losing to Clemson next week the Noles have a tough one against Duke. If FSU wins this game, they’ll likely go undefeated this season. You’ll recall, I picked them to win the NC this year.

I don’t think a 10-point loss constitutes a blowout. We had the halftime lead but were blown out in the 3rd quarter.

Give us back that fumble on the goal line and this was a 3-point game. We might have even been able to tie it with a kick at the end.

I never used the word “blowout”. I did think UNC would “thrash” Miami and could win by 20+.

The final margin of victory, 10 points, is misleading as Miami scored a meaningless TD late in the game when the outcome was all but certain.

Miami had 24 unanswered points and completely collapsed in the second half going from 17-14 to 38-17 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The game was effectively over then.

The rest of the season won’t be pretty. Loses to Clemson and FSU are all but guaranteed. If Miami goes 3-3 in the last six games and finishes 7-5, I’ll take that as an acceptable improvement over last year’s dismal 5-7 record. However, after they somehow managed to lose to weak GT at home, I won’t be all that shocked in they go 2-4 or worse. The team simply isn’t that good. They are a mid-level, mediocre ACC team; not terrible but not good.

Mario needs to recruit extremely well because Miami only wins 8+ games a year by out talenting their opponents like the best teams do. Maybe two more years of significant roster upgrades and Miami might be pretty decent again. Right now, not so much.

And I can’t believe Dawson hasn’t coached TVD to look off his primary. Everyone in the stadium knows where TVD is going to throw the ball. It’s rather pathetic. Not that hard to look off the primary, look at a secondary and switch back. For all the noise a couple of years ago that TVD would be a first round pick, I’m not seeing it. I doubt he gets drafted and if he does it will be very late. I don’t see him making an NFL roster except perhaps as a practice squad guy for a year or two. He’s a decent college QB nothing more.

I think TVD does good work when he’s up and comfortable. When the going gets tough he reverts to staring down his primary just backpedaling until the window looks to open. Hence the second half you saw he never stepped up in the pocket and was predictable af in his receiver choice. What has saved him from complete collapse is he has pretty good arm strength and accuracy.

Hell he was so locked on to X in the 3rd he was literally throwing into DBs backs trying to get it to him!

Same old shit, different day. The Georgia Tech bullshit broke me, I didn’t even fucking care last night as the 3rd quarter nosedived…Just fired up my Series X and played the shit outta Starfield with some quality beers. I’m numb to give any fucks at this point.

Miami played well in the first half. Difference was Maye is a top 2 pick in next years draft and their wide receiver is a pro prospect. Miami will be better when Van Dyke moves in. Emory Williams will be Miami’s next star qb. 44 on defense will be an elite player. The canes have some dudes but they are all young. Nothing I saw last night tells me they are far away. As the roster continues to improve so will the results on the field.

We did for the first four games. After Samson got hurt, we haven’t seen McCoy at Te. Likely protecting the remaining starter material for OL.

Emory isn’t processing information fast enough to start from what I’ve seen.

We need more speed at CB/WR, more DL that are elite, and more time in the systems.

I had us going 7-5. If they can stop the Clemson running game, we likely win that game along with NCSt, uva, and BC with a chance against UL.

Clemson is nowhere near as good as North Carolina. They don’t have speed at receiver. Their OL is one that Miami can have success against.

It looks like FSU and UNC could be run the table and head to the ACCcg 12-0. Lucky for them UL lost to Pitt. They only have 3 road games! Lol

Miami could beat UL if it regains its composure and momentum.

Miami needs to just worry about one game at a time. They can beat everyone left on their schedule. They gave one away against Georgia Tech. They win that game and losing to UNC - no one would care. This team is similar to the 1998 team that beat UCLA at the end of the year. They just need to keep moving forward. They have recruited well…The young talent on the team has shown to be good. I get it fans have been waiting for a long time…I do think Mario is turning the program around.
