Lashlee to SMU

Some SMU insider saying it’s done and Lashlee already putting his staff together.

First saw this on CIS

If true he’s leaving at a good time - Manny gets fired and a new coach comes in - will likely want to hire his own staff.

This really sucks because our offense is finally growing into something impressive. At the same time, Diaz has limited time left and Lashlee needs to think about his future.

If Lashlee’s bolts, there’s less imperative to retain Manny. We’ll see how things develop.

Lashlee was smart

He saw the writing on the wall

It’s a big step up for Lashlee. He’s taking that job even if Miami is undefeated and Diaz is named Head Coach For Life. I bet he gets fired within 3 years. We’ll see.

Maybe Miami’s new AD will panic and hire him back after he signs with SMU.

I’d be concerned about decommitments if Miami had … you know … any commitments.

I’ll miss seeing Knighton run into the middle of a stacked line over and over again though.

Just hire another guy who runs a modern spread, preferably one not in love with trying to run a tiny back inside against stacked lines or who often gets conservative once he gets a lead. Someone who goes vertical a lot. Problem solved.

I don’t think he would have passed up a head coach gig at SMU regardless of situation at Miami

Confirming report. I’m not mad at him.

Big step up. Upped his pay about 4x? Good for him. Head coaching is a whole different gig than being a mere coordinator.

AD on board or not, the admin should say whether they are keeping Manny or firing him … like yesterday. Otherwise, all of the assistants are in limbo as is recruiting.

Miami will be in trouble for the bowl game.
Losing Lashlee. Going to have to fight to keep Justice and Likens from joining him I would assume.

Lashlee brought Miami into the 21st century on offense and I will be forever thankful for that. Hopefully the new OC will run a similar scheme and take advantage of the skill players that make up this team.

Who ever the new HC will be, I believe he should strive to keep a couple of assistance from the current staff. For me, those should be:
Offense: Likens and Hickson
Defense: T-rob & DVD

Saturday, Van Dyke produced his sixth consecutive game with at least 300 yards passing and three touchdowns, a mark only two other Power 5 quarterbacks have surpassed in the last 10 years according to ESPN’s David Hale. Those QBs are both in the NFL: LSU’s Joe Burrow and Oregon State’s Sean Mannion. Not to mention that Van Dyke has produced these numbers behind an inconsistent-to-underperforming offensive line.

LASHLEE WAS RIPPED ON HERE DAILY…

NOW EVERYONE THAT WAS TALKING SHIT DISAPPEARS AND THINKS HE IS GREAT…

WAS THE QB INVOLVED IN THESE STATS AND LASHLEE’S SUCCESS?

LASHLEE’S BEST YEAR WAS WITH WHAT MIGHT BE THE BEST QB EVER AT UM?

ARE WRS AND PLAYERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY LOOKING AT THAT?

DO THEY LOOK AT HOW CLOSE THEY WERE TO WINNING EVERY GAME TVD PLAYED AND MAYBE THEIR TALENT PUTS UM OVER THE TOP?

NAH THEY ARE LOOKING AT THE TEAM LIKE OUR UNEDUCATED FANS DO…

NAH THEY JUST LOOK AT THE COACH AND OUR “ROCK BOTTOM” PROGRAM.

Yea- I agree with this here. The fan base, even those on this site (the better of the bunch) are amazingly myopic and inconsistent.

One week someone is amazing the next week he’s a bum.

Week after week I read about how Lashlee is the worst. Why would he run in this situation…. Why would he call that play here.

Now he’s the best. It’s crazy.

I think Lashlee is a good OC overall. Not great, good. He probably cost Miami a few games with
overly conservative play calling. At least Miami FINALLY hired a spread guy, something most of us have been screaming about for years.

Kind of a lazy hire by SMU IMHO. They must have hired the same National Search Firm that James used to find Manny.

Let the Mad Bomber bomb away until the other team shows they can stop it. Repeatedly running Knighton into the middle of a stacked line doesn’t seem all that wise to me. And the horizontal passes into the flat where none of the other receivers block doesn’t seem to work all that well either. I think the last time I saw a Miami receiver block anyone was when Duggans was the receiver coach and that was 3 years ago.

I wish him well - overall he was good compared to the offensive output we’ve had for years before him.

But I agree with this. He absolutely cost us the UVA game by going conservative at the end.

NOTICE THE ONES THAT COME AFTER STORM POST THIS KIND OF GARBAGE?

SO THE OC WAS CONSERVATIVE WITH A FIRST YEAR STARTER WHO DIDN’T START THE SEASON AS THE STARTER AND HAD VERY LITTLE IF ANY GAME EXPERIENCE?

IS THIS THE SAME BOARD THAT TALKS ABOUT “PLAYER DEVELOPMENT?”

BECAUSE THIS BOARD HAS BEEN RIPPING MANNY ALL SEASON FOR NOT PLAYING TRUE FRESHMAN AGAINST BAMA GAME 1 AND MSU…

IF THE TRUE FRESHMAN PLAYED AND MADE MISTAKES AND WE LOST WHAT WOULD THIS BOARD BE SAYING?

BUT IF TRUE FRESHMAN PLAY AGAINST LESSER TEAMS AND MAKE MISTAKES YOU CAN STILL BEAT VIRGINIA WHICH WE SHOULD HAVE…

YOU STILL BEAT MOST OF THE REST OF THE SCHEDULE…

BUT THAT ISN’T WHAT WE SAY HERE WE JUST STUGOTZ HOT TAKES…

OR WE HAVE A GUY TALKING ABOUT “MONEY BALL” OR ANOTHER THAT HATES ALL COACHES AND EVERY POST IS COACH BASHING EVERY SINGLE UM COACH EVER…

STORM BELIEVES WE LOST 2 RB THAT WOULD HAVE POUNDED THE LINE BUT THEY WERE HURT SO TAKE KNIGHTON OUT OF THE GAME WHAT GAME BREAKING THREAT IS AT RB?

THE GUYS THAT GET A COUPLE YARDS AND EVERYONE IN THE STADIUM IS WAITING FOR IT?
KNIGHTON IS IN THE GAME BY STUGOTZ RULE HE HAS TO RUN TO THE PERIMETER…

THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU POST…

I didn’t read a thing that Storm posted because it’s probably stupid.

Anywhoo - I’d like to see have a short yardage running play with a leading FB. Handing it to Rooster from the shotgun hasn’t worked this year.
