I’m not big on Cristobal (I think he has a glass ceiling) but one thing that is clear to me is I think Lane Kiffin would be a big mistake at Miami.
The days of him being a big recruiter are gone; people don’t want to work with him (staff hires), and he’s never going to push your program forward. I can’t believe people are ignoring his time at USC where he turned that team into a group of chumps with some skill here and there but zero heart and no fundamentals (and his non skill players were trash).
Lane would maybe put a good season together, but what he’d do to Miamis depth chart and overall program during his stint would be a disaster.
Not a fan of him either, but I think he has progressed as a coach since USC. Learning under Satan did him well. Ole Miss looked really good except against UofA and auburn.
He is not the long term solution, but who are you all expecting to really entertain the idea to come here? He isn’t the same coach that he was 8+ years ago at USC. He aint perfect, but we go to Charlotte next year with TVD and our skill crew with him running the show. Howell, Pickett, Leary, Hartman all gone. We score 40+ a game and cruise to Charlotte next year and he brings a solid staff. We could so, so, so, so much worse.
With all the good HC openings and the late start by the yet to be hired AD, Miami will be lucky to score a good HC if they fire Diaz. Might be smarter to wait a year?
We can’t, this years recruiting class is already an abomination. Two of those back to back and it’s not even going to matter who we hire cause they’d be fucked in a couple of years.

Let’s put it in your terms…Regardless of policy…Do you think Joe Biden makes a good leader? I don’t think Manny Diaz is a good leader. I think throughout the week during the season he does not do what strong coaches do…Whether it be running a practice, the fact he is way way too nice to players, whether it be fundamentals…Etc, etc. And I don’t believe he is a leader. I don’t want a head coach that is running up and down the sideline with 4 fingers over his head going into the 4th quarter vs. FSU…That’s for the players. He’s overly emotional and I don’t believe he is a good coach. He is a decent recruiter that was likely helped by more kids ALL OVER THE COUNTRY staying closer to home than any other year due to covid nonsense.
