The “real Russian army” you refer to is a bunch of previous conscripts who are no longer in military service, who are being dragged back into military service. They are warm bodies being sent to the slaughter to stop the bleeding.
Hang your hat on them if you like, but keep in mind “elite” units like the VDV were sent in early and were routed. Wagner has been operating in Ukraine since Day 1. This brand-new fantasy you’re spinning in your head that Russia hasn’t sent their real army yet is not believable even to the Russian people.

Note that I say mostly and don’t think full encirclement is likely. Despite bikki’s boasts of how easy it would be for Russia to encircle Kyiv or Kharkiv, they hadn’t been able to do it. Encirclements in near-peer conflicts without air superiority are very difficult in the modern age.
Also, the NY Times put out a bunch of audio of Russian soldier phone calls during the initial failed offensive against Kyiv. It’s worth a listen.

Obviously it is just a political stunt for domestic audiences (including bikki). Putin wants to stir Russian nationalism in the face of lowering support for his war.
This comes as Russia is still losing key ground on the battlefield. They’re rushing conscripts into units as quickly as they can to stop the bleeding.
Elsewhere on the PR front, there has been a lot of talk over the last month of Putin reframing the conflict from a Special Military Operation to a Counter-Terrorist Operation. This will allow him to claim success on the SMO and clear legal hoops for the CTO, as well as framing the entire thing in a more defensive posture.

Ukraine seizes Lyman lol
Yup, one day after Russia claims the territory is theirs, they decide to retreat from “their territory.”
Lyman has a huge rail hub, vital to Russian logistics in the north and east. Russia fought hard for it, moving experienced troops in an attempt to hold it, and sending reserves at the last second to try and keep it. They failed.
Apparently Ukraine had an operational encirclement, with fire control on the only road out of town. Lots of retreated Russians ran through a bloodbath. Even worse, Ukraine had a blocking force posted outside Kreminna, on their path of retreat, hooked up with night vision and lying it wait. A lot of Russian troops reportedly died.
Losing Lyman is a big blow.
On top of that, The AFU is reportedly keeping up the pace, shelling Lysychansk and Severodonetsk (remember those towns?) as well as the next huge hub, Kreminna.
