Rumor that ukraine captured a command unit of Russia’s IFF system (Identify Friend or Foe) early on. This is the friendly fire system aircraft use to not shoot each other down. I don’t know exactly what this means or how true it is, but it could be why Russia is being more careful about sending planes and guided missiles in. (Russia kind of has a reputation for shooting their own planes down anyway).
Another famous Russian general was taken out. These big guys falling is good because Russia can’t really deny the deaths for long.
I thought it odd that Putin recently reassured his country that no conscripts were fighting. It could just be a random mention or it could be him quelling public fears.
Lots of speculation about tactics and schedules here. It’s hard to know anything for sure. The longer this goes on, the more of a victory it is for Ukraine. This is expensive and embarrassing for Russia. The ruble lost almost half its value in the last month and their stock market has been shuttered for 11 days for fear of what will happen if it opens. Malls in Russia have empty shelves and ATM lines are long and people can’t get much money. I heard Putin threatened to take money from citizens who underreport their income. Meanwhile Ukraine is being generously supplied by the West.

I read a pretty telling line from a retired general - he said that certainly, Russia can swallow Ukraine (eventually). But they don’t have the resources to DIGEST it.
Even if they take over - it’ll be a long and bloody insurgence afterward.

Putin is a POS…the problem is our country has always gotten into bed with these pos. It’s a choice of the lessor of two evils. Putin is former KGB. This is a fact. It is not fake news. He has poisoned political foes. He has people killed. He is basically the equivalent of Jon Gotti being president in this country. He does not want anything good to happen to the US. The fact that some on the right want to get into bed with him show how far off the rails some in that party have gone.
Russia should have learned from their war in Afghanistan. It was their version of Vietnam. They are going to lose a lot of soldiers in this war. Their military is not as strong as people think. Putin is going to have to go in exile or one of of his cronies will kill him.
Ukraine claims Russia launched a false flag against Belarus! They say a plane took off from Belarus, entered Ukrainian airspace, and then fired on a base in Belarus. They claim it’s a false flag to get Belarus to enter the war.
I don’t know what is true or not here, but I do know this: Lukashenko visited Putin in Moscow today. They just made an announcement that Russia will be supplying Belarus with modern weaponry in the near future.
Seems like Russia is coaxing a friend to join the fight. Embarrassing if true that they need the additional troops. Word is the Russian army needs to keep so many troops behind to occupy the cities that their front lines are thin.
I guess we’ll see what happens in a day or two.
