Skeeter, since you follow recruiting much more closely than most, are you concerned that in mid-July, the Canes only have 4 verbal commits?

How many do you think they will take this year given the slow start?

I find myself in a state of “high anxiety” inasmuch as the Canes have only four commits.

Is my state of turmoil justified. Is Manny going to pull chestnuts out of the fire?

Could this year’s recruiting season turn out grim?

I’m not overly concerned. Now if we have to take 5-10 transfers that are all 1 and done types then we have BIG issues. Covid is going to limit a ton of schools to 10-15 HS kids. Thus, Miami’s plan B kids will be good recruits. Heck, a kid like Little Jr who is waiting on Bama could fall back to us.

the vast majority of our targets are still uncomiitted so no, no need to worry about it

Slightly…Not substantially

I’m upset more with certain misses (Tolan, J.Thomas) and a couple local pass decisions (A.Allen, Mortimer) than I am in the raw low number or overall strategy. I’m a little worried about OL but the ball could get rolling there.

It just seems like many kids are getting out to see more schools this year out of covid.

Also, you can make the argument that we shouldn’t reach anymore with the flexibility of the portal. Why get stuck with a reach when you can see a kid more developed 2-3 years from now? I mean it’s not as fun for us that like to watch high school highlights lol…But it is what it is.

Expanded to 30 and updated

Robbie Washington who is now at Killian with his brother Bobby…IS THE GOODS

Adding to an already ridiculously deep year at WR. He is up there with the big 4, making it a big 5.

looks like a weak cycle for OL/DL which is disappointing. we need to hit a home run at the positions in the trenches next cycle. that’s how both saban and smart kickstarted bama and uga when you look back at their first year of recruiting.

I don’t want to jinx us…But I don’t believe we will ever have to worry about OL recruiting with Cristobal and Marabal.

There may be more emerge in Sofl…It’s early. But IMG, TB, Orlando, and Jax all have group 5 prospects next year that I know of and they will recruit the position nationally just like they do at Oregon.

Any relation to Bobby Washington from the early 2000’s also from Killian if I remember?

Yes Robby and Bobby, Jr… are both his sons…Robby has been at a couple diff HS in Central Fl and Georgia before settling at Killian this past year. Now both are at Killian (I believe Bobby has been there a couple years)

Robby was committed to UM briefly (it was out of the blue, and some at the time said non-commitable offer, believe me it will be commitable now) this summer…A surprise commit. But has since backed off. Someone on another board said it’s a wrap though…and he will be at UM.

Did Bobby ever make it into Miami? I remember that year there were a few RBs that committed but a few ended up elsewhere due to grades/test scores.

Think he got fvcked by the ncaa at the last possible moment. Was already in practice iirc.

He was not admitted to UM because there was a rumor someone else took his SAT. NCAA cleared him and he went to NCST then transferred out and disappeared.

On CIS someone explained that it was Robby Washingtons (jilted) mom who told the ncaa Bobby hadn’t sat the test himself. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Hell hath no fury etc…

11 wr on the list and 5 more in honorable mentions so far…Lol is that position stacked this year. That big 6-7 is tremendous.

Expanded to 40

Updated couple new names and some transfers…Sure there will be more all spring/summer on transfer front

Overall I’d describe this tri-county class as average

It is top heavy, with maybe the usual or slightly above average of high 4 or 5 star types…But probably the overall usual average of “4 stars”…If I had to really be picky it is that high 3*/depth that is lacking…Much like last year.

WR is spectacular and obviously propping the whole class up
LB is probably the other only position group I’d say is slightly above average and that is debatable…Wouldn’t argue with “average”
RB is solid/average…Good group. Nothing wrong there. Better than last year bc name at top.
DB average (safety types probably below average, some may say corner below average by tri-county standards, but overall that’s a position with some depth, I’d call it average…names always emerge at DB and edge in sofla senior year it seems)
DL Weak
OL Weak
TE I can name like 1-2
QB Average
