Well .... Cristobal has found his D'Onofrio

When every ham & egg team can score five touchdowns against you …while not having an overall roster as good as yours…then…it’s probably not the kids.

Any HC worth their salt would by now have politely told their DC to step back. Miami once always known for its rugged defenses …has become a toothless punching bag. :disappointed:

At least Guidry isn’t Mario’s brother in law.

The defense has/had serious roster issues especially at LB and DB. That isn’t going to be fixed overnight. A lot of young, clueless players playing before they are ready because there isn’t anyone else. That’s not Guidry’s fault. Kevin Steele didn’t leave him much.

I doubt MC will fire Guidry because he knows what the problems are and realizes the defensive roster has issues. The back 7 is just plain weak and was exploited all season by any decent team Miami played.

The GT loss was more on the offense than the defense. GT only scored 28 points which is hardly a disaster. Miami’s offense sputtered, hence the loss.

Syracuse has a very good offense and Miami’s defense could not stop them. I think they only punted twice? To score 38 points and still lose is pathetic.

The roster continues to improve. I’m somewhat optimistic given Miami won 10 games for the first time in a while. The trend is good.

Well in all fairness…We were all pretty pleased with Guidry last year

The problem is he’s been awful this season.

So as long as he doesn’t keep him, I don’t think the it’s quite the D’Onofrio analogy yet.

Ya I agree…There is a lot to be pleased with right now.

But it feels like shyt at the moment knowing we blew that game yesterday.

I do think Guidry will be replaced though, too many schematic problems this year, and I’m sure he had some say with who we brought in in the portal last season. Obviously your points about the back 7 (especially secondary) talent issues are warranted.

We won 10 games against teams that were not even ranked. And needed miracle comebacks for a couple. We rented for the year a qb that saved these games. Not sure what the trend is since I doubt we win 10 next year without cam and his abilities. I hope I’m wrong.

It’s hard to scheme yourself out of a suck back 7.

Bad teams are bad because they have suck players. Good teams are good for the opposite reason. Coaches can’t play the games for them.

So then how come we lost. And almost lost other games. These other teams had better players. I don’t think so.

Yeah, make this hurt as much as possible.

Eff this team!

To quote Donald Rumsfeld (spit… then throw salt over my shoulder)….you don’t go to war with the army you want…you go with the army you have.

Look…we all acknowledge the deficiencies in the back…but good grief …we can’t out-scheme anybody ??? That is what so-called good or even competent DC’s do.

After a really poor performance against a team (for the life of me I can’t remember which) with not very good talent , Larry Coker excused himself saying that the guys on the other team " …are on scholarship too".

When McCord had that 5 INT game vs Pitt on that Thursday night game, I remember wondering if we could get him to do ANY of that in our season finale’?

I guess the answer was NO. He had the last laugh over us AND over Ryan Day at Ohio State where he left last year after not being GOOD ENOUGH to win THE GAME.

Live and learn, I guess.

In August- who would have circled GTech and Syracuse as season killers for us? I wouldn’t have.

This program has to stop playing up and down to competition and find an identity.

A 1-year qb rental isn’t the fix.

I’ve never liked the 1 year qb rental carousel.

At some point to have some continuity you have to hit on a good Freshman QB.

Yeah, Guidry needs to go. We need a really good hire for this position. If we keep Guidry then I fear it’s more of the same for us next year with no Cam Ward to rescue us. I don’t know who is out there now as potential hires but he needs to go.
