Nah. That’s not the party’s position. The position has always been, “marriage is defined as an act between a man and a woman.” The party has never officially moralized it. In fact, it usually used tax, societal, and legal arguments to support its position. Not religion.
But this is a red herring because the GOP o longer opposes gay marriage. It’s done. The fight is over. The GOP lost.
