Between ADs and HCs, there are SO many high profile jobs open. Jobs at programs with a lot more $ and administrative support keep opening up.
The more jobs open up, the harder it gets to find the right guy. Can Miami be competitive?
Unfortunately, I see Miami taking too long to hire an AD, and the pool of potential desirable HCs shrinks to where Miami makes another “reach” hire, or Diaz is retained.
I’ve said before that I think Diaz sticks around one more year. It might be for the best all around as the new AD settles in, plus it saves the university money.

If you look at our staff, it’s a complete fucking joke. 5 of our coaches have never held a G5/P5 job outside of Miami, including 4 (!!!) on defense. No wonder these guys aren’t learning anything. People that should be cutting their teeth at a G5 or below school are trying to learn on the job here thanks to Manny having absolutely no rolodex.
Diaz HC/DC - As a HC, not the best game strategist. Team has came out flat so many times. No great adjustments in second half. Average recruiter? As a DC, sucks.
Rest of the defense
Jess Simpson - DL - Average resume. Great HS coach. Stint in the NFL (DT coach) for a shit coach. Only been at Miami as far as P5/G5 goes. Not sure about recruiting. Only G5/P5 job is Miami
Jon Patke - ILB/ST - GA under Diaz as Miss State. QC at Miami, has risen up since then. Has never been hired by a coach outside the current staff. No resume. Only G5/P5 job is Miami
TRob - DB - Solid resume. Rep for being a recruiter not a X and O’s guy.
DVD - CB - No resume. Has never been hired by a coach outside the current staff. Should be a top 10 recruiter in the nation to be hired here with this little experience. Only G5/P5 job is Miami
Ishmael Aristide - OLB - No resume. Analyst at TAMU to OLB coach at The U. Only G5/P5 job is Miami
Offense
Rhett Lashlee - P5/G5 experience. Very good resume.
Stephen Field - TE - Recruiting coordinator. Just gonna say it, I feel like he has to be polarizing with recruits. He is 100% white in looks and 100% black in how he acts. He has grinded his way to the top, but below average resume IMO. Non coaching position at Oregon under Cristobal. Non coaching position at Louisville. Only G5/P5 job is Miami
Eric Hickson - RB - Typically where you have an excellent recruiter since coaching RB’s is not complicated. P5/G5 experience. Average resume.
Garin Justice - OL - G5 experience and OC experience. Good resume.
Rob Likens - WR - P5 experience. OC experience. Very good resume.
sub, generally I agree with most of what you said. But to be fair, the staff has made some decent adjustments at half in games where they came out flat in the first half and either won the game, or made it one and had a chance to win.
Ironically, where the staff has gone wrong is when they looked in control and somehow managed to either blow the game ( see FSU), or almost blew it (se VT).
