I don’t know but I think UM wins this comfortably. Not sure about run the “Florida” table. But every once in awhile things have to click on both sides of the ball (with apologies to special teams).
I’m not too sure it will be a comfortable win but it will be a win. Running QB’s, while not much of an issue with us in the hey days, are an issue for us now. We made a true frosh QB (ND) look pretty good at times. 34-21 is what I say.
USF beats teams that play inconsistent offense. Teams that are undisciplined, that interrupt long offensive drives by constantly failed long, home-run passing attempts, can be beaten by USF. Miami has a superior offensive line that USF simply cannot, or should not, during the duration of the game, be able to handle. IMO, the Hurricanes need to start the game methodically driving down the field, rushing the football, throwing slants to the TEs to slow up LBs, as well as outs, and short crossing patterns if needed. The motif for the first quarter of play should be patient ball control and errorless execution, dominating time of possession.
Long drives keep USF offense off the field. Defensively, we need a spy on Byrum Brown. USF cannot win without Brown heroics. Our defensive line needs to be careful in staying in their rushing lanes protecting against wide plays. Our spy player should put the quietous on QB draw plays. If the defense makes Brown’s life hell, we win this game going away. Running tempo offense, a three and out drive can happen rapidly, and is a devastating happenstance when your opponent is eating up clock time with a methodical offense. I would say that if we can sack Byrum three times, we’ll win the game.
Once we get a cushionable lead in the game, it will be time to open up the play book and air it out If our coaching staff has done its homework, we should know where the mismatches are in the coverage. To this end, Carson Beck’s eperience and judgment should give up an advantage. Look for JoJo Trader to make his presence known. He’s got great hands and reflexes that will win 50/50 situations.
If Miami plays a clean game, avoids a comedy of errors, I predict a win by two scores or more. USF can only win if they win the turnover battle.
Tangentially related, I can’t decide if I want Texas A&M or Notre Dame to win. Hate ND but their winning more big games makes UM’s win look better. Conversely, eff ND, always happy to see them lose. Of course, eff TAMU due to SEC affiliation.
Similar conundrum with UF/LSU, eff both teams.
Would be nice to see two other teams beyond UM and Clemson (and not FSU) start to break away from the pack and get ranked.
You can’t decide?
I sure can. A&M all the way. Hope ND loses 4 games this year.
So much for Clemson being the one to break away from the pack. Georgia Tech making a move?
Carson Beck had enough time to read a book, eat a sandwich, and drink a cup of coffee.
Just using this as the official game thread.
So far, it’s a mismatch with our OL against their DL.
Seriously! He has ALL DAY to throw.
Good hands by Moore preventing defender from dislodging the ball.
I’ve been hearing the news all off season, but it’s great to actually see in a game that our upgrades to wide out are not hype. We got some good hands on this team.
Our WRs are better than last year. Moore is the real deal. The kid from BYU is fast as hell. Look for Trader to get involved. Also, looking for some TE receptions. I’d like to see the kid from Tulane catch a few.
Missed the beginning, but caught up to live on the DVR. Looking good so far!
Just need the D to contain Brown.. he will hurt the D eventually. Just need to limit those.
Go ‘Canes!
Watch the fake….
I will trade TDs for FGs ALL day, every day.
And twice on Sunday.
Nice punt
