Let the hating begin!
So, Toyota is up 8% on the news of a 15% tariff. Why would that be?
Because now Ford, GM and Tesla and all other American manufacturers are going to be paying 50% more for their steel, 50% more for their copper, 25% more for their Canadian production, 25% more for their Mexican production, and 55% on their Chinese production. Toyota has to only pay 15% more and they’re done.
Nice work putting American car companies far behind Japan’s car companies. Real nice work.
Just like they planned it.
This assumes they source these raw materials from places that have tariffs of those rates. They have options to select American raw materials or other lower tariff goods.
A childish response lacking basic thought into the subject matter.
US manufacturers already source domestically where feasible. US steel and copper are often more expensive than imports, even before tariffs. The US doesn’t produce enough refined copper or specialty grade steel to meet the auto industry demand, so imports are essential. Switching supply sources is not like changing lunch spots. Sourcing exclusively domestically costs more than the tariffed price. There is no magic “cheap American steel” button, or they’d already be doing it.
Trump’s “deal” enhances Toyota’s ability to keep prices low, margins high…all the while US auto makers with higher costs and tariff complexity.
Once again, Trump puts the US, US corporations and US citizens in worse shape than before with yet another example of how he can’t make a deal and gets fleeced.
Gsc, just has no understanding of tariffs. He does not understand that they are not good for Americans. Even staunch republicans will tell you this. His trade wars are just a distraction for his disastrous presidency.
He doesn’t care, dude. He’s not entering into these conversations in good faith, like he cares for the betterment of the US and its finances. It’s all a rouse…he’s wants an authoritarian and a theocratic autocracy which highlights cruelty for the sake of it. That’s all he really cares about. None of the rest matters to him, even the raping of children. He’s never cared about any of it.
Like I’ve said before, the guy feeds off inhumanity and the destruction of virtues of any kind.
I believe that republicans led by JD Vance will impeach trump after the midterms. They know he is a losing proposition. JD wants to be top dog. MLGSA.
