Updated Scuttlebutt as of 12-14

Updated scuttlebutt as of 12-14:

  • Sounds like we are getting Okunlola…Which is THE MOST IMPORTANT NEWS.

  • Damari Brown sounds like he is trending to Bama, Cristobal has in home this week. Edwin Joseph may be back in the picture…Hopefully no sour grapes there

  • UF leads for Fletcher, and FSU for Hussey. But UM stil on both hard. I wouldn’t be shocked if we land one.

  • Micah Mays seems to fading away, supposedly staying with Wake…Maybe FSU sneaks in late.

  • I feel good about Stanquan Clark who visits this weekend. Bain’s teammate.

  • No idea on the other Lakeland kid Harrison (Pitt commit) , the consensus is the offer is commitable. My guess would be UM

  • As of now, doubtful on Derek Williams…Those rumors seem to fading away. As of last week, UM was trying to get him for a visit and he had us top 4. Would help if he pushed back to February

  • No idea on Ettow Etna…He’s tight with Collins A. our DE recruit, and he is listening.

  • I’ll believe Innis when I see it. UM full court pressing, though.

  • The two guys that will get the portal group started for us this year will be OL Cohen (Bama) and LB Maiguao (our OT Recruits brother, Wash St.). They are both among the top 5 available at their position. Cohen started two years at Bama and UM is getting crystal balls there. Visits this weekend.

-Other definite portal targets (two way interest from what I can gather, there are other names being mentioned, but looking for 2 way interest)…
Thomas Gore DT, GA St
D’Onte Thornton WR, Oregon (visiting this weekend)
Tunmisi Adeleye DL, TAMU (visiting this weekend)

So basically to summarize…I think UM lands those two portal kids, Okunlola, and Clark for sure. The rest is up in the air. I’ll predict we get one of Joseph/Harrison. Hopefully we finish big in Broward on the others. Safety depth chart pretty bare, hopefully Hussey sees that.

I’m pleasantly surprised with the class they may pull considering the season UM just had. Would love to know if it’s the staff ability to recruit or the NIL stuff. I’m sure a combination of both, but this class seems ludicrous potentially.

Okunlola would be amazing. Seems like the strongest class we have had since 2008 but in order for us to bounce back next year we need to win the portal.

Fletcher was on campus this week and could be back again this weekend.

Brown thus Joseph will depend on Bama taking Brown. That may come down to Ricks or just the number of spots Bama has since they still lead for two more 5 star kids in Bama.

Clark would be a BIG win at LB. Talk about overhauling a room!

Etna isn’t coming. Dad gave him two options: Michigan or Stanford.

WR- complete shit if we don’t land two portal kids that can run outwide! Even if we land Inniss, I would say we missed out on so many others to get 4 elite HS kids that I’d have a tough time giving it an A. Now, picking up the Oregon transfer along with 1 other BIG that has 2-3 years left makes up for it. Miami then needs to get those 24 kids onboard!

DT is a massive issue! Don’t give a shit about Horton and the GS kid. We just lost two massive bodies and Horton isn’t going to fill that hole as a TF. Thus, we need to land a minimum of one NT from the portal. I’d love to see us get another HS kid too.

Hearing Fletcher and Inniss are likely to wait until February to sign. That would be a sign they want to pick Miami IF Gattis is replaced with someone they believe in.

To me, this class will be elite because of the OL and DL. Landing one more DT is important. Landing Samson is important. That gets us to 10 linemen with 4 being top 70 in the country. If we can land one more top 250 DT it is a massive overhaul.

Needs:
DT
Samson
Big WR- can’t believe we could strike out on the 23 class
CB- joseph/brown, I’d take both personally.
Safety- we have four! We need one more in the class and Brown could be that type…very ts2 like.
RB- I’d like two because our current guys have all missed games.

I wouldn’t call it a strike out

At least imo…I said there were a big 6 in Sofla this year

1 would be a mild failure

2 was a must… (Joseph, RW)

3 a success…

4 a home run

And that 2 was just as likely as 3 or probably even slightly more likely as a prediction… So yeah slightly disappointed, especially the Jean miss (likely offense related, gators supposedly ponied up, and Amari Cooper got in his ear about Napier connection). But I wouldn’t call it a strikeout. Inniss would shock the world. What a monster get that would be.

Thornton would be huge for portal…Big size/speed combo and was coming on as a true soph at the end of the year for Ducks. Had biggest game in their biggest win vs. Utah (4-158) with two long plays. The Teslaa kid from FCS looks pretty damn good too, I knowUM has offered, no idea if mutual interest, as a lot of more proven passing attacks are going to be offering him. Thornton has the Cristobal/OU angle…

I agree with your other stuff…

I’d take both Joseph/Brown if want in as well…I’m not sure the older bro Davonte Brown is a huge upgrade for us or a must get. I think we need to do better there for a starting caliber portal corner this year. And who knows, maybe we give Joseph a look at both sides of the ball to start things off just in case.

DT is the biggest need right now, agree…Followed by safety depth, although I do think it’s possible one of the incoming recruits our even a Jaden Harris could play some safety. I would love for Gabe Taylor to come back home from Rice…Can be a real factor at either safety spot and nickel. Versatile, tenacious, nose for ball (has 2 pick 6s in college and had a few his senior year in HS) Has graded out well for 3 years, albeit CUSA. And next year we MUST hit at QB with a big timer. Brown is an athletic talent for sure, but who knows how he develops as a passer.

And agree, need 5 RB on roster…I would expect a portal if we miss on Fletcher

CRISTOBAL IS FIRING A COACH TO APPEASE TWO INCOMING RECRUITS?

I’M SURE THESE GUYS ARE HEAVILY WEIGHTING THE OC IN THIS DECISION INSTEAD OF MONEY AND LIFESTYLE….

ALL THINGS EQUAL STORM WOULD LEAVE MIAMI FOR COLUMBUS WOULDN’T YOU?

Or he could be “Firing” him (or however they make it look) because of the #82 SP+/#94 FEI offense…110th in 20+ yard plays…and somewhere in the 120-125th range in cfbdata’s “explosiveness” measure

Even with the injuries, it shouldn’t have been that bad.

Don’t do it!!!

LETS SAY HYPOTHETICALLY:

MIAMI OFFERED 1.8 MILLION ABOVE

OSU OFFERED 750 K……

WOULD YOU GIVE A FCK WHO THE OC WAS?

THIS IS THE EXACT REASON MIAMI USE TO GET FCKED AND YOU GUYS WANT TO THINK ANYONE COULD HAVE CHANGED THAT WITH NO MONEY….

I wasn’t commenting on a recruits’ motivation. I was commenting on reasons to fire Gattis.

And no one ever said money couldn’t be a factor…As usual you are starting dumb arguements for no reason, all in that stupid, cunty caps lock.

Back to Blockville clown.

NO BUT THE STUGOTZ STORM COPIED DID….
:point_down:t2:

IF YOU ACTUALLY READ THE POST CORRECTLY “CLOWN” THE COMMENTS WERE NOT MADE TO YOU THEY WERE AFTER QUOTING 90 STUGOTZS WHICH IS HOW THE MESSAGE BOARD WORKS…

Getting to be high stress for everyone with so much up in the air. Remember when you picked a school in Feb and that was the end of everything? Seems so quaint nowadays.

Now you can pick a school on ESD in Dec…great if you want to get on campus in Jan. OTOH who knows if the coaches that recruited you are even there Jan 1 given Dec is now the high staff turnover time. It would be in your best interests to wait and see how the dust settles BUT the school is now pressuring you to sign early so they know where to put their resources for the next couple months. They tell you if you don’t sign now, you could lose your spot. That worries you because you’re also competing for a scholarship now against as-yet-unknown players in the portal. The NIL deal they’re offering is decent, not great. There is another school offering better, but I think I just heard their checks bounced this year…?

Enough to make a highschooler go cross-eyed.

How about the kids that EE then portal out before August! If a collective fails to pay, I could see that happening more and more. Zero loyalty to the school or academics. This is now 100% about $$ at the high end with very few concerned about post football life.

IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY ON PLANET EARTH….

THE PROBLEM IS IT IS LEGAL NOW FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST THE CHOSEN FEW……

NOW THAT THE CURTAIN HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY PULLED WE CAN STOP WITH ALL THE NONSENSE HOW GA, AL, OSU IS OUT RECRUITING BECAUSE THEY ARE WINNING….

THIS IS LIKE REAL LIFE JUST LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE…

MONEY, WHERE YOU LIVE, EVERYTHING ELSE……

I agree that WR is an issue. Jeremiah Smith ‘24 stud just committed to OSU.

OSU and Bama are still problems when it comes to taking WR from South Florida. I don’t blame the kids, to be honest.

We haven’t exactly pumped out quality WR in the last 10-15 years.

Thornton should help. Ray Ray and Bobby are good. More than anything, I’d love to see an air raid variant at OC. Get the kids on the same page and light up the score board!

We now have the best OL class in the country. We have a good QB commit. One of the fastest RBs. Three TEs. Land Inniss/Fletcher and the offensive class is an A++.

WE HAVE NOT TURN OUT OL EITHER……

HE MUST BE COUNTING ON RELATIONSHIPS TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN……

GETTING RID OF GATTIS < GETTING PAID, LIVING IN MIAMI AND PLAYING BEHIND THIS OL……

AND OTHER STUDS…
