Here’s one study from a year ago. But it’s pretty obvious this focus on only COVID is messing up a lot of society, especially our kids.
I’m of the opinion that COVID hasn’t helped, but it would seem likely to me that these two individuals who passed probably had a lot more going on other than COVID to think they had no other way out, which is extremely unfortunate.
It’s getting better, but mental health has been taboo for a long time - and it’s difficult for a lot of people to talk about.
I went through a pretty tough situation years back (well before COVID) and didn’t want to talk about it because I was embarrassed - it’s rational to you in your head, but it sounds completely irrational when you try to explain it to someone.
Got to the point where I was so exhausted from the anxiety that I didn’t care about the embarrassment anymore. I was able to access resources that helped me shake it, thank god…as I was in a pretty dark place for a while. Looking back I regret that I spent all that energy - and that I didn’t try to address it sooner.

Quite a few things affect mental health, including some kids thinking their country is on the brink of fascism due to psycho ex President who denies reality and his nightmarish followers who embarrass this country with their willful ignorance and violence on a daily basis.
