TVD wasn't the only winner

They’ll be enough posts about TVD balling out so I’ll skip that.

The biggest change in my mind from this team 2 weeks ago to now are:

  1. Limiting Drops on Offense, and

  2. Limited Missed Tackles on Defense.

As well as TVD played, a couple drops here, a couple missed tackles there, and we would be looking at another L.

So congrats to the coaches for correcting problems, congrats to the team for putting in the work. This is the type of play I’ve been waiting to see as a fan, and it absolutely starts at the top. Playing hard is great, but not constantly effing up is the difference between optimism and Diaz losing his job.

I would also say that Lashlee has improved his calls now that he knows what TVD can hit. We are a pass first offense mainly because the OL isn’t great and the coaches have finally realized it. Heck, the pass on the last drive shows they finally know that running it into a stacked line on 3&4 won’t work so run a play action to the TE. Lucky for them the fumble rolled out at the first down market. Miami has 4 more games that are all winnable. Will we win out?

I’d also like to point out that the acc is dog shit bad this year so 6-2 vs the acc schedule isnt much better than 4-4/5-3 in years past.

Lashlee admitted he was constraining TVD too much a couple games ago, so yes he was holding back.

I don’t know much about Pitt but I suspect their pass coverage is awful. Our receivers were getting open easily, so it makes sense for us to be pass heavy. Against a team with better coverage we will need to rely on the run/O Line more. We will see how that works out.

Not happy with the D at all. Gave up almost 600 yards

Yep. Based on the offense looking pretty good and the scrubs coming up on the schedule, looks like Diaz will be delaying the inevitable for another year.

With that said, he better make a really good hire for his coordinator this spring.

:point_down:t2:

But it was Lashlee’s mistake. He has a brand-new QB so he keeps the playbook simple? Fine. But starting every 1st down with a long bomb? That’s idiotic. That’s not how you build a QB’s confidence or rhythm.

BAD COACHING was setting up a GOOD PLAYER to fail.

The board’s criticism of Lashlee’s previous play calling was 100% spot on. There’s a reason Lashlee cut that shit out.
