Bankruptcy laws are older than America. They date back to English Common Law and since they were tried and true subsequently transferred to our federal code. Bankruptcy is addressed in the Constitution of the United States. Formerly debtors were imprisoned. Bankruptcy is conducted by a court appointed trustee to oversee the process and ensure its probity. Bankruptcy laws are the same throughout our nation.
Well-heeled persons do engage in bankruptcy, but not often. The same goes for corporations and partnerships. There are two types of bankruptcy: Chapter 7 and Chapter 11, the latter of which is usually referred to as reorganization allowing the discharge of some debts, but allowing debtors to retain their businesses.
They donât go back before the founding of the United States. Of course, you were wrong on many levels. First, America is 200 million years old and relates to the continent. We are the United States of America. Secondly, the bankruptcy laws relating to student loans date back to 1976, not pre-1776
500 Trump-created private corporations and just six bankruptcies, some of them Chapter 11 reorganizations, is not frequent. In partnerships, failures to perform by any one party may send a partnership into bankruptcy.
Trump should receive great plaudit for creating so many jobs for so many employees. Certain parties are harmed in bankruptcy proceedings, but bankruptcy law is exceptionally good law dealing as fairly as possible with all parties. Reporting about bankruptcy is often skewed by political bias of the reviewer. Bankruptcy law is well-honed and one of the oldest forms of jurisprudence in our federal legal code.
False. Trump Org has 500 LLCs, most of which only hide his assets and are registered in Delaware where their tax code made it a haven for tax shelters. Letâs not forget his CFO plead guilty to 15 felony counts including conspiracy, grand larceny and tax fraud.
As far as your notion of bankruptcy lawâŚ
Thatâs, again, false. The first bankruptcy law in the US was in 1800 and repealed in 1803. The 2nd was in 1841.
The more you type, the more you show how shitty of a teacher you were.
The concept of bankruptcy was employed in the colonies before America became a nation through its origin in English Common Law. The use of America to describe the United States though subject to criticism is universal and part of the vernacular. The first codified federal bankruptcy law was in 1800, 21 years after the Revolutionary War ended.
Bidenâs forgiving student loan is tantamount to buying votes, and yes it makes chumps out of those who behaved honorably and responsibly. IMO, loans should only be given for hard science and technical degrees. I perceive most social science degrees as pure bagatelle.
Making student loan bankruptcy nondischargeable precluded YOUNG people from routinely discharging debt whenever they wished.
Indiana is also correct that universities have taken advantage of the free flow of tuition monies provided by student loans by raising tuition and board at rates more aggressively than almost all other sectors of the economy.
Meanwhile, the entire human race grows dumber as those of lesser intelligence propagate faster than those of greater intelligence. In other words, weâre seeing retrograde evolution.
305, I think it is marvelous that you power your home through solar panels. How much did the solar equipment cost? What kind of warranty do you have on the solar components? How long does the equipment last? What happens if you need to put a new roof on your home?
Total cost was about $24k, of which $8k was subsidized by California.
I own the panels outright, but I do not have a battery system. Essentially, any power I use us drawn from the grid, and any power I generate is sent to the grid. LADWP gives me credit for the electricity I sell them, and I generate most at peak-time pricing. since I generate more than I use, they win as well as their grid gets some relief. However, the downside to not having batteries is that, if the power goes out, I lose power.
After 6+ years the panels are still generating like new, and I have already made a net profit. I am guessing the city/state has made a net profit as well after all the free electricity Iâve sent their way.
I believe the Panasonic panels have a 10-year warranty but Iâm not sure offhand. Theyâre supposed to last 25-30 years.
A new roof is tricky. I have a low-slope tar & gravel roof which is a lot lower maintenance than shingles. Although not new, I had it patched and reinforced before the installation. A hidden benefit of raised solar panels is that they actually shade and protect the roof, keeping the house cooler. In the California Valley, I noticed that perk right away.
= Your statement was false and you are now trying to qualify it by citing English Common Law in the colonies. The fact is, the first was in 1801 and it was repealed in 1803 not to be initiated again until 1841.
Yet, the countless times the US has bailed out corporations for far more money, youâve entirely been okay with. Once again, you follow the notion of âmore for me and none for thee.â
Again, youâre entirely fine with OLDer people discharging debt at any time they feel fine about it. Just another hypocrite
and the proverbial racism that drives your miserable being
The same argument has persisted since Darwin brought it up. Nevertheless, call it racism or anything else, it is indeed happening. A comedy movie called Idiocracy was made on this topic. Very humorous. Perhaps mankind will test the aphorism that ignorance is bliss.
BTW, the best post youâve written to date, Warden, was your listing of horror movies which Iâve tried to watch. You should republish the post since it was your best. For being such a turd, you have good taste in movies rivaling 305âs taste in Coastal California vintages.
This is remarkably comical on two frontsâŚone is that you present Idiocracy as if nobody knows about it. Second, that you think itâs anything but representative of the America youâre trying to create. They were literally create Trump ads using President Camacho.
But, thanks for the commendation on horror movies. Unfortunately, the horror genre is the only one with which I have said exception. I find comfort in them for some reason; maybe I was born in the dark. Beyond music, horror movie lists are just about all Iâve got when it comes to good lists. UFC fights, maybe?
Warden, I donât perceive you at all being born in the dark. Youâre an idealist with whom I generally disagree. Intellectual dueling has a long history, originating in Ancient Greece and also in India. Today, in law schools, we have mock trials that often separate those capable of thinking on their feet and becoming trial lawyers from others who rarely if ever appear in court. I myself have conducted twenty or more trials pro se, and I won all of them. To lose one would have been as pleasurable to me as the Von Helsing stake through my heart.
Fantasy and science fiction comprise a wonderful genre of literature, and I well understand their appeal to you since I share that appeal. I am a devoted fan of two authors whose works affected me in life. The first was the greatest SF writer all timesâRobert A. Heinlein whose novel Stranger in a Strange Land I regard as the greatest SF tale of all time, although it may have its peer in Heinleinâs tale of Lazarus Long in Time Enough to Live.
Apart from Heinlein, who in real life was quite character, I was influenced by the great Phillip Wylie. Wylie had a wonderful mind which excelled in telling future histories. Many of his works made their way into being movies such as Gladiator but Wylie also wrote non-fiction, scores of articles and several books including Generation of Vipers. His book Disappearance explored a society without women and delved into homosexuality more than fifty years ago. He also wrote prolifically about environmental catastrophes caused by humans. Wylie was well ahead of his time in his visions of the future.
It was Wylie who created in me a sense of moral guilt in watching either boxing or UFC. Iâd be lying if I said I didnât enjoy watching as a voyeur, but as I watch I am fraught with guilt. You have probably stumbled across the works of the aforementioned, if you havenât I recommend stumbling. Youâll really like them.
