Before my parents decided to send me to prep school, for which I am greatly indebted, I attended Fort Lauderdale High School in the late Fifties. Our campus was an old stucco building located at the corner of Federal Highway and Broward Blvd, where the big bank building now stands. There was no tunnel then under the New River, and the football stadium was right there on Federal Highway. Sometimes, we used to take our boats to school, docking them in the nearby Tarpon River.
Reading this post, my memory takes me back to my first football game where all the students and alumni would sing the school’s alma mater. All persons standing, the singers would reach the last verse of the hymn, and then they’d raise a hand in the air singing “here’s to you Alma Mater, Fort Lauderdale High.” Damn, now fifty years later, I never realized that the stadium was filled with Nazis. Thanks, Djrion for your clever post.

I also don’t get likening a bunch of folks holding up 1 finger to a Nazi salute. It’s a huge reach. I mean, every single Canes game, all the fans do that as soon as the 4rth quarter starts. Holding up 4 fingers is actually 3 steps closer to Nazism!

I was a student of Ft. Lauderdale High School for less than two months whereupon I was sent away to an expensive prep school where competition was greater than I experienced in college and where I was graduated. Marian was Validictorian of my class. The salutatorian was also a girl whom I remember for having giant breasts for which she underwent considerable persecution. She now lives in Connecticut and was one of the few in my class who turned into liberals. I suppose persecution she suffered in high school affected her rationality.
I did meet two girls who attended Ft. Lauderdale High School. One was a beautiful girl whose personality was as radiant as her appearance. I probably should have married her, but she did better than I; she became Steve Spurrier’s wife. Her name was Jerri Starr. They’re still married. The other girl became writer in residence at the University of Virginia. She became famous as well as infamous writing a novel (The Rubyfruit Jungle) about her lesbian youth and about homosexuality among the rich and famous in Ft. Lauderdale which was then a small town. Her name was Rita Mae Brown, former lover of Martina Navratilova. Rita had an amazing capacity for work. She was a very prolific novelist, and probably should have been a lawyer. It was impossible to get away with insulting Rita. She’d put the quietus on you faster and more painfully than anyone I can remember. Both Jerri and Rita were in the Class of 1962. I think Jerri may have been the Homecoming Queen.
Well, that’s unfortunate. I thought I could provide you some nostalgic photos. From the yearbook, I will say i think Beth Ann is the hottest. Some lookers in that class
I also attended Fort Lauderdale High School. A good friend was the enigmatic Bob Clark, a strange kid who was always drawing in his notebook. His favorite thing to doodle were big breasts, which is ironic since he rarely experienced them in person. That, however, never stopped him from entering the Canadian film industry and becoming a partial success at acting and, later, screenwriter and producer. His magnum opus? Porky’s.

They have literally nothing to do with one another. Those 3 positions above have well articulated and researched moral and factual justifications that undergird them. The left doesn’t care about that. They know that people are so connected to having a decent reputation in society that they will do anything from being publicly categorized as racist, fascist, sexist, etc…
It’s highly effective because we allow it to be so. And because drones like warden and Djrion mindlessly subscribe to it.
