12 jurors presented evidence which didn’t require Cohen’s testimony to corroborate. The case worked with or without him.
In the grand scheme of things, what Trump is convicted of here is not that crazy or bad, but it’s the start of things finally catching up with him.
Election-wise, I’m not sure how impactful the judgment will be. It will make both extremes dig in even more, and it may or may not sway some people in the middle.
The entire trial was a sham.
The 34 charges are contingent on a separate crime.
Which crime? Oh well prosecutors didn’t reveal that to the defense until closing arguments and the judge allowed that!

Instead, prosecutors inflated the charges to lowest level felony and alleged that the falsification of business records was committed “with intent to commit another crime,” Honig said.
“Inexcusably, the DA refused to specify what those unlawful means actually were — and the judge declined to force them to pony up — until right before closing arguments,” he said. "So much for the constitutional obligation to provide notice to the defendant of the accusations against him in advance of trial. (This, folks, is what indictments are for.)

NY did not enforce a federal law.
You want to have it both ways. You complain the trial isn’t about the federal law, and then you complain that the trial is about a federal law.

Falsifying business records in the first degree is a real crime in New York that existed before Trump and gets prosecuted all the time.
The only reason you’re hearing about this so prominently is because the defendant is Donald Trump.
As far as “waiting until right before closing arguments”, all that means is before the prosecution rested, which is normal. But not only that, the prosecution outlined 3 crimes in February:
- the amount of Trump’s payments to Daniels exceeded federal campaign contribution limits;
- the payments violated state election laws because they aimed to help Trump influence the 2016 election through unlawful means;
- the payments to Cohen violated state tax laws because Trump paid him more than the $130,000 he was due to be reimbursed to compensate him for having to pay taxes on the money.

Also note that some of those are STATE laws, not federal.
All that said, I agree that Trump has a decent if small chance for a successful appeal, and at the very least he may be able to still be guilty but reduce the crimes to misdemeanors.

Facts…trump and his group of cronies are con men. Always have been. They rely on people who can be manipulated. This charge probably should not have been brought to trial but at some point every bad thing you have done will eventually catch up. The trumpers who have blind loyalty and never bring up the the awful things he has done…are ok with that crap because he gave tax breaks to rich people and got the courts to over turn abortion…great. There has never been or will ever be another person that needs to have his name mentioned every single day…I could care less if he wins or loses at this point. I just want him to go away and never hear or see him again. He is a disgusting human being. I still don’t know how anyone who says they are religious can stand behind this man…he is against everything god stands for. But carry on.
No one says he is a monster. But he is a pos, now convicted felon. Before you say a word think about the contractors he stole from for his casino. Think about the contractors at his Doral County Club he never paid.
If any of his other cases go to trial, he will lose those as well.
