As always, when you read what Trump’s statement actually says versus what the click bait headlines indicate it says, the two things are complete strangers. It was a pretty mild “attack” as far as attacks go. It was much more of an “attack” on the MSM’s hypocrisy than on Powell.
I’m old enough to remember when Powell was “Literally Hitler” … you know … like 20 years ago. It’s amazing what being one of CNN’s GOP-bashing, useful idiots in the years after he retired did to restore his reputation with the MSM.

I’ve come to the belief that Trump wants a lot of people to hate him. And that’s an easy thing to achieve when making idiot comments like this.
I disagree, I personally know several people who would consider themselves as independent, didn’t support Trump between 16-20, but would now vote Trump. One of those people is me though technically I voted for Trump in 2020. Still, I think I’ve come a long way. On the flip side, I don’t know a single independent who is happy with Biden.
Point is, there aren’t many people of the “middle” that are looking around today and thinking, “I love what Biden has done with the place.”
There is a longing for leadership that preceded this current shit show. You don’t know how good you had it til it’s gone.

I still think there are way too many who won’t for the man because he is a narcissist asshole. I think they want to lean Trump and end this madness, but then he keeps making himself into a side show, and making it all about him. And insulting a dead man that many still consider a hero isn’t going to help him…He is a soap opera and turns into more of one every day. I am in the same boat as you and the people you are describing, at least for 2020. I never thought I’d vote Republican, but Trump was an easy vote when you compare him to these left maniacs.
I don’t know if I I will vote for him in '24…But me saying “I don’t want him to run” doesn’t mean I wouldn’t. I just think the GOP defeat this progressive delusion and push for communism much easier with a different candidate.
I’d love to just move over and vote Libertarian the rest of my life…But what good does that do.
I too wish there was reform away from this two-party system. It’s not like tiered voting (or whatever it’s called) would automatically clean up election BS, but it would give candidates with a strong platform a fighting chance.

Believe it or not (people on here probably won’t believe it), but I am a registered Republican. I want to get back to voting that way (hence my fierce pro-life views). I pray to god that Trump would just go away, as do many others who want to vote that way.
It’s no different than many who voted for Trump, because they couldn’t stomach Hillary or Biden. My own father was very clear to me on his view that he despised Trump and wished anyone else would have run. Still he explained, he voted for Trump over the policies of Hillary or Biden. Totally get this.
2024 is an eternity away in terms of politics. We’ll see what happens. I’d love to see someone other than Trump gain some steam. That said, should Trump decide to run I don’t think anyone stops him.
