Americans are paying a stiff price as a result of a rigged election. The entire world is paying a stiff price, because Biden, a long time fool, now a demented fool, is president of the United States. Plain and simple, Putin would not have had the fiscal resources to invade Ukraine were it not for our dimwit president restricting oil production. There would have been no invasion were Trump the president. Putin had respect for Trump but no respect either for the two presidential failures, Obama and Biden. Putin made a fool of Obama and his red lines, taking Crimea which I assure you is almost completely Russian, without firing a shot.
Putin reacted the same way John Kennedy reacted when the Russians tried to install ballistic missiles in Cuba. Encouraging Ukrainians suicidally to fight the Red Army is complete madness. How flippantly, Westerners who have begged out of this fight, are willing to see Ukrainians dying and having their country reduced to cinders in a battle they cannot possibly win. Black lives matter but apparently Ukrainian and Russian lives don’t.
The West completely misconstrues the feelings of the Russian people. Russians despise NATO. Ukraine presently may well be THE most corrupt nation in the world, certainly the most corrupt in Europe. Even by a small measure, Russia is less corrupt than Ukraine. Small wonder that the Russian people do not relish the thought of having nuclear missiles aimed at their land from corrupt, unstable, dirt poor Ukraine. The real sentiment of the Russian people is to be accepted as full-fledged Europeans. They want more freedom after decades of living under repressive one party governance.
The West should stop immediately sending weapons to Ukraine to prolong loss of life and cataclysmic destruction. The war is already over in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. Kiev and Kharkov are surrounded. Artillery is being transported into disputed areas. There will be no house to house fighting. The choice will be either surrender or the Russians will annihilate towns with heavy artillery. Settlement is the only humane way to end this conflict.

The second reason was Krushchev wanted to use the leverage from Cuba to push the allies out of East Germany, as they felt western control over a portion of Berlin to be a threat to Russia and East Germany. Today, we can hit a gnat’s ass in a dust storm from 3 continents away in less than an hour. Russia will ALWAYS consider whomever is next to their border to be a threat. Also, NATO isn’t threatening Putin with war. Putin is threatening NATO with war. He even made it clear Sweden and Finland are in the mix, far beyond their historical borders.

Actually, the most humane way to settle the conflict would be for Russia to pull out of Ukraine sovereign territory. Anything else leads to potential years of insurgency.
