It’s all a show.
Trump’s just not a very smart or savvy man. These are things he’s supposed to do but he’s not supposed to say out loud. He says them out loud anyway.
This honesty is part of the reason his base loves him. At the same time, he just admitted to working against their interests.
But the admission isn’t even necessary. Every conservative who cares about the border KNOWS Trump axed the border bill. They KNOW it was a bill Republicans had worked on for months, and something they wanted for years.
Any honest reading of what happened reveals this.
