Top Targets at Each position as of early April

1-10 Likelihood

QB Abrams 9… Or at least co-top target with Mencel. Committed, sounds solid. Things may get interesting if Lawrence re-classifies, but I think they both just have to deal with the other. I don’t think they cut Abrams loose

RB Myson-Johnson Cook- 7
(of the smaller backs if you think we are looking for a contrast in styles for the second back, I’d say Elijah Kimble is on top of the smallish back board, 4.5)

WR Nick Lennear -9
(Remaining uncommitted ehhh I’d say Jaden Upsahaw, likelihood 5)

TE Jackson Dollar- 3

OL Matthews- 8

IOL Tatum- 9
———

DT Brewster- 2

DE Jacobs- 4.5
(Bryant 1A 3)

LB Henderson 5.5

CB Ehhh Gourdine was pretty high… No idea really.
I’ll go with Meredith 3

S This is pure guess here, as there seems to be a top tier of 3-4
I’ll go with Jayquan Snell 2

Others right behind the top tier.
RB Keys, Georges- Gabriel (a 1 or lower at his point of his recruitment)
WR T.Moore, E.Mcfarland, Q. Burrell (1.5 probability Burrell, but friends with Abrams)
TE A. Cartwright
OL J.Williams, J Sam-Epelle
DT Parks, Folorunsho, Currie, Fakatou
DE KJ Green, I hope Whitehead
LB R.Igweibuke
CB J.Johnson, D.Greene, Dobson
S Gavin Williams

These aren’t all the takes (There are others now I believe we would accept a commit from and are legit big timers, but these are the kids I believe as long as no one pisses anyone off I believe we’d take a commitment from well into the fall and make room if needed) At least 6-7 kids in that bottom group are 2 or lower probability but with our momentum and things going on behind the scenes who knows).

It’d be interesting to see over the years what caliber or “tiers” we recruited statistically, and our success (hit rates) across those “tiers”. I get that you’re gonna make plays for the 5* level kids, but our success has been sporadic at best imo. We seem to be getting much higher up the board in recent years. I’m guessing the data would show UM is both more active in higher tiered kids and having more success getting commitments from those groups. Idk, I’m a numbers guy and feel the graph plots would be pleasing to most long battered UM fans.

I seem to remember a handful of years striking out hard in LARGE percentages for those level kids and scrambling very late for what was considered lower level recruits. Sometimes being shunned late by those kids as well, for various reasons. There were cycles that I really wouldn’t pay much, if any, attention to the “big names” listed in Miami slanted recruiting publications bc there really didn’t seem much chance imo to land them unless they were SoFla kids (and that was no guarantee either).

Not making the talent v coaching argument. Either way we seem to be trending much higher on both fronts.
