Alabama may tie or break a record held by the University of Miami with six Tide players going in the First Round. In a mock draft, all of the following are named by various punsters of going in the first round:Devonta Smith Wr, Mack Jones QB, Patrick Surtain CB, Jaylen Waddle WR, Christian Baramore DL, Alex Leatherwood DT, Deonte Brown OL Najee Harris RB.
So Rimington Trophy winner Landon Dickerson is not projected to go 1st round??
I haven’t seen him projected in the first round by any of the pundits, but who knows. Some team might really need a center, and Dickerson is a good one.
With their current dominance, this was a long time coming. Kudos to them.
Amazing what cheating with impunity can do for a handful of programs.
i’ve been hearing this same take for the last 5 years at least that bama will get 6 players drafted in the 1st and it never happens.
oh and anybody selecting Mac Jones is just wasting a draft pick. the phins are already wanting to move on from Tua…what do you think will happen to Jones? these are system QBs.
I definitely think Najee goes in the first round, first running back chosen.
Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle will also go in the first round. Waddle is a Devin Hester clone. Smith won the Heisman.
Patrick Surtain can’t miss being picked in the first round as a CB
Baramore DT is a fast, physical, disruptive DT with a mean streak, first round.
That leaves one last one among three players: Leatherwood, Deonte Brown, and Mack Jones.
Leatherwood played well this year, 1st team All American should be a first rounder.
That would be six chosen and tie the Miami record.
I didn’t used to think Mack Jones could cut it, but his play this year got better with every game. He used to throw the ball too hard on underneath plays and dumps offs. That habit has been cured. Jones throws the ball accurately and releases quickly. I believe he’ll be a successful pro and be chosen in the first round since QBs are the name of the game.
That would make 7 chosen in the first round, leaving Deone Brown who I think is a strong player who will go in the 2nd round unless one particular team needs a tackle.
I forgot also to put Dylan Moses in the group. Moses on account of his speed could go in the first round, but I see him as a second rounder.
This was a very good Bama team, the best offensive Saban team ever, but their defense which improved during the season still gave up significant yardage on the ground. Kyle Trask and Florida and Lane Kiffin’s Mississippi teams both scored a lot of points on the Tide, but still could not keep up with Bama’s greatest offensive unit.
Personally, I hope they don’t equal or break our record, but unfortunately I see them tying it.
