I do think abandoning Bagram was strange. I know the military said they had to pick one airport to focus on, but I don’t understand why. We should have held both.
As far as what to have done about the prisoners, I don’t have an answer. If we’re trying to get out of the area, I can understand washing our hands of the responsibility. If, however, these guys are terrorists who actively strike at the US, then I wonder if leaving them under Afghan control was a mistake.
We just airlifted how many Afghan refugees? We take these 6,000 pieces of shit with them and hold them at a military base. Easy. Done. Over.
