It has to do with letting people who are potentially ill cross a border, during a “pandemic” and then spreading them all over the country.

While I 100% agree that the borders (all) need to get locked down during the pandemic, I can tell you that it only took a couple people crossing the board from India (likely via plane) to bring Delta here. It then took months for it to spread from 1-2 to many then hundreds then thousands … Now if Mexico has a variant holy shit that will spread to the USA within days. Hell, it would likely be called USA variant simply because of the lack of border and lack of testing in Mexico.
A country without border is not a country any more.
Delta = very few deaths. Why is this a big deal? New sicknesses come into this and all countries every year.

DJ Rion is the type that needs to take a nice little stroll through inner city Indianapolis, or the South Side of Chicago.
He would experience diversity in a very real way. I don’t know that he would survive it but he should practice what he preaches.
I think the biggest reason people aren’t as quick to move on is that most new sicknesses that come into this country are known with known anti-virals to help mitigate them. Covid is not even 2 years old with 2 anti-virals available.
I’m 100% for learn to live with it and letting the virus be a virus.
