Warden- I am in agreement with you.
I am a Catholic who hates the institution of the Church and the Pope. They are rogue. And while I understand they serve dogmatic and institutional role in the “body of Christ” they’ve let the laity down. They are not transparent, they don’t hold their clergy accountable and most importantly the Pope delves into issues he has no authority over.
I hope they correct. I’d love to see priest take vows of poverty OR be allowed to be married.
Time to clean it up.
I’d hope they could be gay, trans, women, illegal immigrants, and accepting of all like any true god would be.
Lol- these are the best kinds of quotes.
“I know better than God. He should adopt MY values…”. Hilarious.
But let me entertain this for just a moment.
Jesus is pretty clear in the story with the adulteress. The Pharisees are there when he comes upon her and they demand that, if he is God, to punish her. Punishment would have meant stoning her to death or at least banishing her from Israel.
He looks at them, draws something in the sand with his finger, and then says, “he among you that is without sin, cast the first stone.”
They all look at each other, bewildered, and leave. No one grabs a rock. A bunch of Djrion’s in the crowd that day who thought their value system superseded the almighty.
He then says, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’
“No one, sir” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and sin no more (leave your life of sin, repent).
A few points that are instructive here.
First, Jesus calls her act a sin. Her act was “sex outside of marriage.” This applies to hetero and homosexuals. I’M GUILTY OF THIS SIN. I have no bias here.
He doesn’t condemn gay people for their desires. He doesn’t condemn hetero people for their desires. He condemns them for their actions.
2nd, he doesn’t condemn her. This doesn’t mean she won’t be judged in the future…. It’s not the time of judgement yet. And he, in his human form, is showing us (other humans) that it’s not our job to punish her…. It’s our job to love her enough to share the truth with her (stop sinning).
3rd, he warns her. “Stop sinning” is a command. Leave your sinful life, turn to God, and repent. That’s exactly the message we are to share, in love with sinners. Even with ourselves.
You may think you know more than God, but as he told Job (38:4-7)
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?”
There’s been a billion or more like you. They’ve all tried, and failed to be God.
When was it “clean” in your opinion?
In line, “you may think you know more than Copernicus and Galileo…but, there have been a billion or more like you. They’ve all tried and failed.”
You think this mfer has sucked a tranny or 2 in his day?
