It is an interesting phenomena. I started the thread re skeet skeet skeet going off the deep edge in the old forum. He claims he’s the same even tho every single poster here tried to rationilze him down off the ledge. Unfortunately, there is no turning back. He GONE.
Skeet skeet skeet turned 85 years old, the day covid started in the US, joining Bill, GSC, and AlabamaFan. Like watching your grandpa lose out to Alzheimer’s or something. Crazy light switch flip.
To turn your question back on you… Why should I care what happened in hospitals “all over the country?” They haven’t been caught lying about that in California. In fact, our stats have been great all year so they hardly have a bad track record. And I know someone who works in hospitals to help verify. And I also haven’t seen the very anti-California media machine accuse Cali of falsifying ICU stats.
In other words, I have more reason to trust the data than you do to distrust it.
This is a blatant lie. The FBI acknowledges there are people who identify as AntiFa, and the FBI does keep stats on them.
Not sure about California. Thank goodness I don’t live there!
But Michigan is talking about opening up to indoor dining and Chicago and NY are discussing plans to open up. All of these announcements came after the inauguration.
I believe they have been caught…But I’m not going back all the way for Sept/Oct/November stats…Or at least should I say the original decisions weren’t made based on the numbers.
Trust it if you like, but no you don’t have MORE REASON
Don’t let the conservative media machine fool you, Indiana. Many of these locations were pseudo-open months and months ago too.
Chicago had indoor dining in September and October before shutting down again. All that’s happening is Chicago is going back to Tier 1. They did it months BEFORE the election and now they’re doing it months after. Same with other places. Nothing to see here.
I believe LA, at the end of the week, we move back to an outdoor-dining model at 25% capacity. This is where were were 4-5 months ago. In fact, I believe California had just started allowing very limited INDOOR dining at some point, and we’re not going back to that yet. THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY HERE.
GSC posted this the other day. This doesn’t matter? Make numbers look like you want…Move goalposts on determining a positive whenever you want? And then “open up” when your rate and cases are where they need to be (also where you want them to be)
Which part of what I said is false? I said “Many of these locations were pseudo-open months ago.” I provided info about California and Chicago already being open in the summer/fall.
Now you’re saying my statement was false because of Michigan? Let me tell you why I’m right and you’re wrong.
Michigan had already re-opened before the election. It was only after the election that Michigan reclosed.
November 15th was when the ban started on indoor dining, high school, college, and movie theaters, and casinos.
Now go back and re-read my posts and tell me where I am wrong.
Essentially, the conservatives in this thread are COMPLETELY changing the narrative.
They’re saying everything was shut down until Biden is president, and now everything is magically reopening.
The truth is the whole country was a lot more reopened months ago. Many places tightened up right before Thanksgiving because of the second wave, and now that things have hopefully plateaued, we’re looking at reopening again.
So they have been shut down for 2 plus months and just announced 5 days ago that they will open back up now. This is all while we have these new weird strains of the virus and we are talking about double masks etc. Because there is a drop in cases and hospitalizations.
But this just underscores the broader point that the voices to reopen on the Dem side are MUCH louder now. Coincidence I’m sure.
Liberals are caught in this weird in between world right now.
They want to continue to blame Trump for the virus for eternity, and everything that happens in the next 4 years will be Trumps fault, but at the same time they need the economy to get back to normal again so they can have the success. Hard to keep us locked down and have the economic success.
Most conservatives have at least been consistent in that this virus is real and is a threat but we have to stay open and the lock downs as they have been instituted are doing more harm than good.
I’m very interested in seeing how states will determine what is a safe event or business.
If we are at 40-50% that have gotten the vaccine by April and 20% have gotten over Covid, are we going to see states unlock their economies? Personally, I believe Red States are mostly unlocked and will start removing limits sooner. Blue states will have to unlock some with limits come summer.
Can a business or government force you to wear a mask if you’ve been inoculated? How can they proof that you have been inoculated? Instead, the states are likely going to have to use broad numbers to determine the safety of the public based on inoculation percentage and case loads.
What pops first the stock market or real estate market?
While the handling of the virus has been a colossal Trump failure - Biden now owns this. If he can’t get a handle on this vaccine rollout - he will be to blame.
You still didn’t address the fact that they previously reopened way before the election. Was that a coincidence too?
Or is it better to ignore the first time and then call the second time a coincidence?
Your point has no legs.
You didn’t? If I proved to you that he DID shout it a few months ago, would you change your opinion? Here’s October, after working on the problem a while.
Weird, Indiana. It’s almost like all the facts you’re railing against exist only in your head. Or maybe only in conservative media? …
Which is why everyone already left lockdown 5-6 months ago. A point you’re continuing to ignore.
They can’t force you to wear a mask, but they can refuse entry if you don’t. The problem, and main reason I think people are being encouraged to wear a mask after vaccination, is to uphold the social contract with the rest of the community. We don’t want anti-vaccers to lie and say they got the shot just so they could walk into CostCo without a mask. So to protect everyone, mask wearing will be encouraged. That’s my take, anyway.
I think I did say that they’ve been locked up for the last couple of months before deciding to open now. It’s in the Michigan article. But what’s so special about making all of these announcements now, other than the fact that big bad Orange is out?
It’s not like the virus is any better right now. We have ridiculously high numbers. You can bury your head and think the Dem politicians aren’t playing with you on this virus.
Your call on believing that they aren’t. Their actions speak pretty loudly.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter why they are doing what they are doing. I feel bad for the folks in Blue run states. You are getting screwed and the leaders are playing you.
I tell people that I’ve had a pretty normal life since COVID started. Still go out to eat occasionally, go to the gym, see friends and family. Life is good. Feel sorry for the folks that have been holed up in homes in fear or because the government won’t let them go anywhere. It’s really sad.
What was so “special” about them making the same announcements months ago, when Trump was still in office, before the election even?
Nothing. Nothing is special about the announcements.
What do you mean by this? Daily cases have been dropping for a few weeks. Even daily deaths has seemingly plateaued, and those lag cases by a few weeks.
Some California ICUs were at 0% capacity. Many in LA are back over 15%, which was the metric they were using the whole time.
I’m not saying we’re doing great, but we are hopefully passed the hump. And even then, in LA we’re opening patio dining again, but we’re still not opening indoor dining. We’re still not opening schools yet, although we’re trying to. We’ve been trying to. As a parent with a kid in school here, there’s been a lot of communication about the possibility for the last few months. At one point we hoped to start the new school year in person.
