Student attacks teacher, brutally

Wow

I can’t say you hear too many stories about getting your arse beat by a toddler.

Unfortunately, teachers are without remedy in controlling students. This would never have happened a half century ago before the advent of Progressive Educational Theory which believes in rewarding students for effort rather than achievement, deluding students about life. The student was probably named “Chuckie.”

You mean dating back to 1897 with John Dewey? You poor thing, now tell me about how teachers aren’t empowered and parents are coddled while you talk about how your GOP is putting cameras in classrooms, terrorizing teachers, threatening teachers and librarians with jail time, and removing all rights of the educators, etc?

Dunce

Controversial take here. Reinstate Corporal Punishment. It must be parent approved. The fact that kids know it’s a possible consequence, will serve as a deterrent.

100%. I didn’t know it was controversial. I got my tail whacked a few times

I am not referring to John Dewey but to the perverse practice of Rogerian Psychology during the last fifty years and morons with mortarboard hats not admitting that failure is part of life with which individuals must deal. Furthermore, education should be for mastery which can be measured psychometrically. Today, educators are moving against objective measurement and replacing it with subjective nonsense. Small wonder SAT scores reached their zenith in 1962 despite efforts to make make the SAT exams less challenging. Small wonder students from some third world countries outscore Americans especially in hard sciences and mathematics .

Teachers should be compelled to pass examinations in their own discipline. For a while this was done in Florida, and it exposed many teachers who should never have been conferred degrees much less teach children.

Read about the failure of schools in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, how students cannot read, and have acquired no skills enabling them to succeed in life. Students must be divided by aptitutde or teachers are charged with an impossible tasks.

A case in point was one year I was assigned to teach 41 students Chemistry. Half of the students could hardly read or do simple arithmetic. When I failed half the class after the first semester, my principal raised objection. I explained that the first thing studied in chemistry is gas laws, and that was as far as the class could progress since students hadn’t a clue how to compute ratio and proportion problems. Then, I had to teach them to use slide rules. There were no scientific calculators at the time. As I told the principal, you must transfer them out of the class to a class in compensatory education, or they’d fail the entire year in my class. With the twenty I had left over, we covered a year in chemistry in one semester, and all students made A or B grades. Only one black student remained. He turned out to be my best student, and today works for Monsanto as a research chemist with patents to his name.

Are you off your meds? We’re talking about a teacher being attacked by a 5 year old and you’re over here talking about person-centered psychology and mortarboard hats. You plainly referred to something developed by Dewey in the late 1800s and now want to refer to psychology. Seems like the mortarboard moron here is pretty obvious.

First, you mean 1963 not 1962. In 1962 Math was 498 and Verbal was 473. In 1963, Math was 502 and Verbal was 478. However, that was on the 1941-42 scale. How would you compare that to the scale beginning in 1972?

Strange coming from a person who’s party wants to dismiss basic biology as a fairy tale, telling kids the earth is 6000 years old and evolution isn’t real. Hard sciences? Your party pretends climate change is fake and second hand smoking doesn’t hurt you. The biggest attack on hard sciences has come from your team, who are you talking to?

For instance?

Seems reasonable.

Yet, the worst performing schools aren’t in DC or Baltimore. Alabama’s Chickasaw City Schools are the worst performing schools in the country. Alaska’s lower Kuskokwim School District is #2 worst in the country. Arizona’s Window Rock Unified School District 8 is the 3rd worst performing school district in the country. Arkansas’ Osceola School District is the 4th worst performing in the nation. Florida’s Hamilton County School District is #9. You have to go to # 20 to get to Maryland - Somerset County Public Schools.

See, that’s how quantifiable facts work. Maybe you were subject to Rogerian Psychology in your upbringing and don’t understand measurables and KPIs.

As far as your teaching story, sounds like you’re a terrible teacher.

I get your narrative…the old days were great, right before the “blacks” and everyone else got to thinking “they” could go to college too. It’s not that you couldn’t teach a lick, but that everyone before you didn’t teach your students enough to get to your class. It’s not that you suck as a teacher. It’s everyone else’s fault.
But, I do agree with the others in stating we should be able to have teacher whip their asses. Punishment should be required. Secondary schools for shitbags should be expanded. Also, allowing parents to dictate education should be shunned.

He walked with martin Luther king and fought for black rights

He lived in Moscow and learned their history and political system

He is a retired lawyer

He is an Islamic scholar

Now he’s an expert in pedagogy

He’s an expert in everything, saying nothing, and lies about it to boot. You can’t make this up.

Bikki is pure human trash.

I do find it curious you failed half the class, blamed the class, and explained you began with gas laws, and then wanted them to “compute ratio and proportion problems.” What level of chemistry was this? Again, it sounds like you’re a terrible teacher. By metrics, you’re horrible if you failed half of the class, but what I’m curious about is your order. You started with gas laws? That seems strange to begin with the 3 fundamental gas laws as opposed to say, an introduction to Chemistry, a discussion of matter itself, the chemical foundations of elements, atoms and ions or nomenclature or chemical compositions. You went straight to gas law. I find it hard to believe they couldn’t compute a ratio. I also find it lazy that you couldn’t teach a class to divide data A by data B. Also, why are you having them calculate proportions? This wasn’t statistical analysis. Wasn’t this an entry level hs chemistry class? What’s your problem? Who the fuck let you teach?

But then you bought a mat…

Now one dare fuck with you!

You’re a nice guy huh fat fuck?
