Sorsby Ruling

Dunno if You should laugh or cry at the TT QB Sorsby ruling… but the pearl-clutching and rending of garments by AD’s and HC’s does cause me to shake my head. These guys have demolished everything they could think of in order to get the leagues with the most money and the most prominent teams ..but now feign horror that Sorsby is not put upon the rack ?!

Gambling seems to be locked into the human DNA and psycho-emotional makeup. It makes sense to forbid gambling where you can influence the outcome. Adjacent to insider trading. This does nothing to change the underlying human foibles.

If one does not want a total free for all then punishment has to be swift and draconian. But jurisprudence and the courts don’t seem to be leaning in the direction of unimpeachable standards and scrutinizing interested party participation.

So it goes. It “worked” because we writ large as a society agreed to the parameters. Nothing more. Don’t agree voluntarily and this is what you have.

There are over 30 betting apps available ..and that’s not even mentioning Kalchi or Polymarket . Every professional and semi-professional sport on TV on any given Saturday or Sunday will drown you in HardRock or Fan-Duel ads. The NCAA happily takes ad money from beer companies . Colleges and their AD’s and fans flaunt billion dollar upgrades to stadiums.

Yet “Heaven to Camuffins! ”….. no one could see any form of player-addiction coming ?! Make something harmful easy to get/do and there will be consequences.

The punishment no matter how draconian ….in today’s age will not stop this ..it will only make for more sophisticated circumvention. The hand-wringing AD’s,HC’s and league-commissioners need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Many more if you are counting head shops/interface software (for lack of better words)
