September MVP/Pleasant Surprises / And a couple disappointments

Players who flew up my list, performed way better than I (and probably all of us expected!)

  1. Carter Davis (we aren’t 2-0 without a kid who couldn’t win the job at FAU bombing away in the 2 huge wins)
  2. Malachi Toney- Well yeah (and in all fairness, he was hyped all spring/summer)
  3. Not a player, but Corey Hetherman
  4. Keionte Scott
  5. Marty Brown- Although it looks like CMC (as I feared), may be starting to fall in love with this kid…And don’t get me wrong, he is one tough SOB. But this offense needs Lyle (and Trader) back right now…we are very efficient, just not explosive right now. Gotta give him his props though, he is an absolute animal between the tackles and maybe falls forward as good as any back in CFB.
  6. Bain/Mesidor- We knew they were good, but they are dominant. That is a decent UF offensive line (top 15 in the nation I’d say) and they did what they wanted. Bain’s motor is legendary
  7. Jakobe Thomas- He is not a superstar, and will never be a rangy coverage safety, but he will knock your teeth out of your head and plays with a ton of emotion. Was thought to be just a depth type pickup after missing on Haulcy. A leader on the defense already, they seem to feed off of him.

HM: Daniels, Lightfoot, Moore, Fitzgerald.

Disappointments- Obviously not many

  1. Trader- This just has a bad feel, as it’s rumored the last part of this absence was disciplinary. It’s defcom 4 right now with updates.
  2. Bauman- A youngin needs to start taking his snaps. Awful blocking and overall just looks mediocre as a WR. Shouldn’t be on field as much as he is.
  3. Poyser- And this is just a slight disappointment. He played a little better vs. UF and I do believe he is the best option right now. Way too early to give up though, because a lot is being thrown out at him, and he’s not terrible by any means. The hype spun out of control on him, so this is basically just compared to the hype.

HM: Lyle (10 snaps)- obviously not his decision
