Robin Hood in reverse? Democrats plan $12,500 tax credits for pricey electric car purchases

WE TAX ONLY THE “RICH” WHICH IS WHY THE “RICH” SUPPORT US!!!

I like what Biden’s doing with these.

  1. There’s an added credit for companies with proper unions. This is sticking it to Tesla a tiny bit.

  2. The credits will phase out for vehicles not made in the USA, or be less.

305,

What’s a proper union?

Ha, that’s a good question. I guess I’m not sure of the wording, but $4500 of the credit would only be available to union-made vehicles. This pretty much means support for the Big 3.

I also don’t know what Storm means by “pricey” electric cars, because the proposed credit wouldn’t apply to cars over $55k or $40k or whatever the final threshold is (trucks may be higher). There’s an income cap too that may fall somewhere between $100k - $400k.

Sounds like more corporate cronyism with this tax cut. Biden is hooking up the big 3 and telling the innovators in the market to fuck themselves. Not sure how this is a good thing. What am I missing?

The America-first aspect of the policy?

If Trump pulled many of you guys would be calling him a scumbag for bailing out his corporate “buddies” but Biden does it and it’s okay?

It’s bad policy; its anti-American as it allows Biden to pick the winners and losers which always hurts the American worker and the American consumer. Policies like this one will only benefit the wealthy.

Somewhat off topic, is this tax credit part of the larger tax bill where Biden will grant the IRS the power to look through each American’s bank account ?

Trump did preside over EV tax credits. The old ones were put in place in 2008. Funny how you never called out Trump for the bad policies…

it’s PRO American. Foreign companies won’t get as much of a credit, favoring American cars. The America-built aspect favors domestic factories. The battery sourcing favors American suppliers. The pro-union bonus favors American workers.

Wealthy people aren’t eligible for the tax credits, and neither are upper-class targeted vehicles.

If Trump’s tax credits for EV were like these that Biden is pushing forward, then it was bad policy then as it is bad policy now (I am unaware of Trump’s EV credits what were they).

Regarding this being pro-American, it’s helping the Big 3 car companies as you just said as long as they have “proper unions”. This appears to be another example of good intentions with terrible outcomes where the government is intervening and deciding which companies will win and which ones will inevitably lose…nothing American about this.

Before you go on about “Trumpers gonna Trump”, I think you should consult GSC. He and I argued plenty about Trump’s use of tariffs against the Chinese. I argued then and would argue now that these types of economic interventions only hurt Americans not help them.

IT DOES HURT AMERICANS…

THE AMERICAN GLOBALIST THAT CREATED THE SYSTEM…
