Yes… I know he could be maddeningly abrasive, cantankerous , argumentative and always the gadfly (what he had against Elite80 …I’ll never know) … Yet… he loved the ‘Canes, politics and hated LeBron James’ for (in Bill’s eyes) his overwhelming selfishness. The idea of the Lakers drafting LeBron’s son would have sent him over the edge.
This being election season and the ‘Canes undefeated it no doubt would have felt like an early Xmas to him…He would have been here holding court on why the Canes’ DC should be fired and why the Liberal Lefties ( I once told him I was proudly among that group) should be cleared out in this election.
So…no matter how you felt about him …I say …a toast to departed diehard 'Canes fan is in order,
Bill was always great for a long debate, and I almost always learned something new when digging deep with him. He would have loved to see where the Canes are today.
Bill Garcia was a class guy. I remember him fondly. Yes, he would have been delighted today after such a decisive election. Whenever we got together we’d talk expansively about football, not only Canes football, but about his beloved Coral Gables Cavaliers and their revered Coach Nick Kotys. I miss Canebill.
If he were alive today, he would be proud of the election results. On another note: So, so, so very glad that Stormfront is permanently and irrevocably banned. He would be insufferable right now.
I was always shocked by how much time Bill spent on this silly board (and the old one), writing extremely long posts and endlessly arguing back and forth with idiots. I never saw the point.
It would be an understatement to say Bill enjoyed arguing. He should have been a lawyer not a bean counter.
I think maybe because it is a board with only adult posters. No rambling teenagers or over-the-top rah-rah fans. Just adults who did’nt/don’t get carried away. Plus ol 'Bill was always ready to correct anything. I think it was on the other board when I mentioned a HC (for the life of me…can’t remember who) was in more trouble than Nasser when he blocked the canal . Welp…a historical factoid followed on why Nasser may not have been the best example…
