Have a busy day and week this week, pissed off at the Cuse loss, and really not following closely.
I guess we are waiting on Alford at 2:15 and Pickett at 3PM…Not much Pickett buzz at all.
And Malachi Toney isn’t signing til Saturday now. I don’t think this is a good sign, and personally I don’t care with this little brat anymore. Cut ties and move on.

How does Wiley compare to Nix? Are they actually similar?

Wiley’s stock exploded this year…Wiley probably has both more upside and is riskier. He destroys people out there.
It is reported Haynes King, the Ga Tech QB that destroyed us, may become available in the portal. As we witnessed, King is a dual threat QB and plays with a lot of heart. His stats in the close loss to Georgia were very impressive. I would be very comfortable having King under center.
Another QB I really like is Kaidon Salter of Liberty who may wind up in the portal. Salter is another dual threat QB, especially rushing the football, and would be a productive QB for the Canes.
Of these two, however, I like Haynes the best. He’s a true warrior.

Ya I liked Merritt and we definitely need secondary upgrade, but for last 6 weeks or so it seemed like the two sides were just growing apart. Tennessee been expected for couple weeks now.

Honestly I was surprised that Poffenbarger didn’t hit the portal again once Ward signed (not sure there was a window, just saying). He barely got any burn and if the coaching staff thought he had promise doubt he’d be in the portal with Ward going. So, question. Was he a desperation grab when Ward seemed NFL bound? Or did they really think he had something and were wrong in the assessment? Hope it wasn’t the latter.
I don’t think it’s that important honestly, they had room and took a shot he was either depth or could develop more, but right now it’s clear he’s behind Emory Williams and didn’t want to sit.
That “they had room” makes sense. Why leave a seat without a fanny in it. At that time Ward was an unknown as to his intent. So I kind of have to guess that they thought something of Poffenbarger. Or they could have put a different fanny in the seat. Not like there weren’t other QBs in the portal to take a chance on. I guess what I am getting at is evaluation. My hope is that they have the savvy to analyze the whole range of portal QB choices and hit more than miss. My inquiry is leaning towards a more general question of the current coaching staff’s ability to scout and find the “diamonds in the rough”. On paper Poffenbarger had the numbers but that doesn’t mean he was the best option. I suppose I am beginning to question the staff’s ability to scout accurately. Particularly when it comes to seeing something no one else sees (something people laud Butch for being able to do).
