Russia has already won. The war is similar to the stage of WW2 following the Battle of the Bulge. Everything was winding down, and there was no doubt of the ultimate outcome. Obviously the Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporoshnoye will remain annexed as part of Russia. What is unanswered is whether Russia will lay claim to Odessa and Mykolaiv.
I have been to Odessa a few times, and it is a very interesting place. It’s an ancient city filled with historical sites.One of best places in Russia to dine. The chief language spoken in the city is Odessan Russian, a unique dialect, not Ukrainian. It was once the site of a large Jewish population most of whom fled, mostly to Israel, as they did in Kiev, Kharkov, and Dneipropetrovsk after the break up of the Soviet Union. Despite only having a small Jewish population today, the influence of Judaism is manifest in Odessa. My sense tells me the Russians who regard the Black Sea as their lake will annex the city.
