I hope that guys like Devin Hester, Andre Johnson and the rest go after the NCAA .
The Sports networks and the print rags made loads of money off those guys. EA Sports and other gaming companies were handed ready made products for a pittance. College-football talking heads got rich, everybody jumped on the NCAA money train to get paid. Head Coaches rose to the status of robber-barons and all the while the kids sucked salt.
Now when you look at the "Nevin Shapiro Scandal" your effin' blood has to boil.
Yes… Shapiro was dog-crap pretending to be a human being …but the Hell the kids went thru for getting a free meal or entrance to a club was outrageous.
While I have zero insight into the actual numbers, such, let’s call them “reparations,” might grind the whole machine to a halt. Not saying the case is illegitimate. But there has to be some dividing line in such matters. Do the heirs/person of Walter Payton have a case? Marcus Allen? Bo Jackson? Tim Tebow? Logically one cannot just go back into infinity. So what is the line in the sand.
Thing is …if the past players hire smart attorneys who decide to look at sales from Video-games which prominently featured them, dig into TV/streaming ad-revenue generated from games in which they played…not to mention TV ratings …IMHO …they will get some type of compensation.
No matter the outcome…watching the NCAA being raked over the coals is welcome.
