DL let pretty big gaps. LB didn’t fill the gaps. Safeties missed open field tackles. CBs were too weak to get off blocks.
Add another 100 because Mack wanted his kids to break the record against Manny. If I’m Manny, I circle that game on the calendar every year until Mack is dead or I’m no longer with Miami. I wouldn’t accept a loss to UNC again!
I don’t blame the DB’s. The line and the LB’s must be largely to blame.
DB’s are the last resort to stop running plays. If they get involved in stopping the run, it usually means the line and linebackers have failed.
I think UNC only threw about 20? passes. Not like they were trying to run up the score or the rushing yardage. Miam’s defense didn’t show up and Miami’s offense didn’t keep UNC’s offense off the field. Miami failed on both sides of the ball.
UNC came in focused and sky high. Miami is already on winter break. So typical of Miami teams to sleepwalk through a game.
How much of this was personnel-related. How many starters were out with COVID or injuries? Did Miami play a bunch of scrubs at LB and DB? WTF???
Did Miami ever stack the box? Or, were the playing Dono ball the entire game?
UNC lost to FSU and UVA. Hard to understand how Miami would lose to them so badly at home unless the team adopted its “we don’t give a F” attitude like it had against FIU.
This game reminded me of when Nebraska played Colorado in 2001. Nebraska could not stop the counter all game. I think Nebraska lost 62-42 or something like that. Nebraska lost so bad that they put Nebraska into the Championship game vs Miami. So Maybe we have a chance to get into the playoffs.
This is the one thing we almost avoided which would have made this season 100% successful. Not only did we lose ( that’s fine ) but we always mention the bad loss. It wasent to a bad team. But it was pathetic in nature
