We might beat Duke this year as our only other W. Might.
Van Dyke is a very poor QB IMO. He’s slow, doesn’t have any touch on the ball. Long passes way off. Lots of passes into the dirt a la Jacory Harris. We won’t win with Van Dyke. Garcia is the future not Van Dyke.
Manny Diaz is 2-6 in his last 8 game by the way. but i’m sure some in this fanbase are still not convinced yet
Way too early for this imo…I don’t love what I see by any means. But there’s some things to like
The best of the game was that swing pass to Knighton. You give knighton some running room, and he’ll deliver. We played an abysmal first half. UNC doesn’t look like last year’s team. They lost two great RBs for which we had no answer. Shame we let Howell beat us with his feet.
The first play of the game could have worked had Van Dyke thrown a better pass.
When does Garcia get back?
This program is a fucking embarrassment.
Burn it down.
How do we get rid of the President and replace him with someone that gives a shit because that’s the problem with us.
It has to start at the very very top. There has to be a commitment at the highest level. And there just isn’t.
Agreed. Frenk doesn’t give a fuck.
He only pretends to because Herbstreit called him out!
The President is hired by the BOT. If the BOT doesn’t care, they aren’t going to choose a President who cares.
The school makes $2B/year in rev on the medical side, $500M from tuition, and $500M from grants. Football has always taken a back seat, but we had a lot of advantages that have since eroded. We will never be a powerhouse again, but a solid AD can make us dangerous when we have a good QB.
Well we’re staring down the barrel of 2-6 now. I haven’t seen anything that bad in almost 30 years and at the time sports illustrated had us on the cover. It has to be over for Blake and Diaz.
I can’t stop marveling at having the odious honor of being the worst tackling team in FBS. There are teams full of kids who have no business playing semi-pro ball who are only on the team for parties and a free degree — the Idaho states and Vanderbilts of the world — who are better. Wild. Just wild the U has fallen that far.
I give the kids a ton of credit for still fighting to the very end last night. They could have given up at halftime. That they didn’t give up is commendable.
Still - ATX is right - that Miami - a talent rich region where ridiculous players are in your back yard - has the inability to coach kids on the basic fundamentals of tackling, blows my mind.
Twice last night Howell ran in TD’s after one of our defenders thought a shoulder to his side would bring him down. TWICE. Zero attempt to wrap up. That’s a coaching problem.
I also think, culturally, there’s this mentality that because the U is on the side of your helmet, you’re automatically good. Which is weird to me because we haven’t been “good” in a very long time. Again, culture.
The only way to change this thing is to change the leadership to one who is willing to burn this culture to the ground and start over. Until that happens, this crap will continue.
At this point the only remaining game I have any confidence of winning is Duke. I won’t be shocked in the least of seeing miami have it’s worst season in generations. 3-9.
