Newt Nails It

Something stunk in the State of Denmark, and I fear the stench has spread to the U.S.A. Integrity in government seems to have reached a nadir as we seem to have grown tolerant of corruption. Newt does a great job in a short essay questioning whether our nation can survive the monumental dishonesty and lawlessness now afflicting it. A great read.

I love how he bags on California for having a felony theft threshold of $950.

Meanwhile, in Texas, anything under $2500 is a misdemeanor. But CALIFORNIA BAD!

I watched a You Tube video recently of a woman shopping at Walgreen’s in California. She had with her a calculator keeping track of her purchases. She was approached by another person, a store employee whom she thought was another shopper. In their conversation, she commented that she wanted to make certain that her shopping trove did not exceed $950 since she had no intention of paying for the said goods.

Small wonder retailers flee venues that refuse to enforce laws against theft. Target reports losing a whopping $600 million annually to retail theft. Here locally, we have a number of convenience stores that have no problem with theft, because the owners, an Asian family, are armed and in the past have defended their businesses and shot numerous felons. Presto, the word has gotten out to local thuggary that robbing these businesses might well result in a quick trip to the grave yard.
