New RB Commit

In the New Orleans region football playoffs, they called Ty Keys the “Alpha Dog” As a junior he set the All Time Mississippi single game rushing record of 546 yards while scoring 8 TDs. Recruited heavily, offered by top programs in SEC and Big Ten. His weight has augmented from 175 lbs to 190 lbs. According to Andrew Ivans, he could become a featured Division 5 RB in particular as a perimeter rusher but also not afraid to lower is shoulder and rush inside as well. He’s been celebrated in Mississippi, let’s hope we have the same reaction.

Miami is recruiting at an elite level. Just crazy what they are doing right now.

Maybe still one step below (on paper, which is why I say UM is a top 7-10 Nil, not at the tippet7 top, or at least what we are willing to spend on HS recruits)…the USCs, Tamus, Texas…But that is where we gotta trust CMC and staff’s eye to make up the small difference. Not to mention, CMC has absolutely crushed the portal.

Mark Matthews would obviously sting and need to land one of the top targets at edge.

But for the most part, doing very well

Thanks Skeeter, I sold my home on Pensacola Beach where I mostly resided for the past 45 years. It was a grand old place that weathered many storms including the cataclysmic Hurricane Ivan. Unfortunately, its uniqueness turned out to be its greatest flaw. All the windows in the home were arched. Many of them were 12 feet across and six feet high. The windows’ frames were highly crafted wood which were not up to withstanding the harsh beach environment. While I repaired the windows time and again, actually becoming quite expert at fashioning the curved frames, I could not stop them from leaking. What compelled me to sell the home was my age; at 82 I’ve lost a measure of nimbleness and balance. Working on high ladders and scaffolds was just not in the cards for old Bikki. Just a few years ago, I was a veritable Flying Walenda, but age has caught up with me. I searched out contractors to restore the house, but balked at the $800,000 price. Reluctantly, I sold the old home so dear to my heart. In addition, it seems a pity the new owner elected to demolish the home and build a $5 million dollar monstrosity in its place. The only thing the new owner retained were my statues and the giant boulders that I built out of concrete to enhance the garden. Here are a couple photos of the old place that is no more.

For the first time in my life, I find myself a tenant in a rental house in Pensacola close to where I am building a new home on high ground fronting Escambia Bay. It’s going to be a smaller home than the beach house, but I think I can adapt to 5.700 sq. ft. The home will have a separate garden, and I plan to build a lap pool with a huge faux stone mountain with a six foot high waterfall emptying into the pool. Lastly, I plan on building a 400 foot pier into the bay with a covered lift for a pontoon boat. Here’s an AI rendition by my architect of what my home will look like when completed.

My short term goal is two fold: 1. to live long enough to walk into the front door of the new home, and 2. to see the University of Miami to win its 6th National Championship in football. Lastly, I am heartened that some of you missed my absence and that I am extant not extinct.

Yes, I would like to meet Bikki. Had no idea he was in his 80’s. Crazy we all have grown old together. GRUMPY OLD MEN on a message board.

If Bikki is up for it, I’m up for it. Traveling to Wyoming and VA this month, Colorado in July and Italy in November. I’m open beyond that. Obviously a late comer to the message board compared to the rest of the group, but I appreciate all the time you all have spent together.

Wow!! That is a beautiful home! Road Trip!!

Just returned from New Orleans. As usual, we stayed at the Mazarin hotel formerly known as the St. Louis Hotel somewhat famed for its spectacular courtyard which once featured some fabulous ficus benjamina trees that lamentably finally succumbed to cold weather. Went to the NO Zoo which has improved demonstrably, especially with regard to its extraordinary landscaping. Former mayor Latoya Cantrell has just about cleansed the French Quarter of places where sinners like myself can smoke cigars. My favourite cigar lounge attached to Arnaud’s restaurant is no more. What a pity, for it was there I would smoke a stoggie and converse with other cigar addicts from around the world while also consuming escargot en croute from the restaurant. Fortunately, one bar in the quarter has its tobacco rights grandfathered in; it’s called Cuban Creations. There I smoked a nice Tatuate Churchill cigar and drank far too many mojitos. The next day I looked at apartments for sale in the Quarter and found one that actually had a garage. I am seriously considering buying it. New Orleans is only a three hour drive from Pensacola. The high point of my trip was discovering the best crab cake I ever tasted. I found it at Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse. During my life I have eaten thousands of crab cakes, and for twenty five years I’ve caught so many crabs in the Tensaw River that I may have lowered the water level of the river. And, now I possess the ultimate crab cake recipe. Were I religious, I’d say I am blessed.
